Veterinary Technician Internship
Wildlife Center of Virginia The Wildlife Center of Virginia (WCV) currently has an opening for a 13-month veterinary technician intern with a start date May or June 2022 (flexible start date for the right ca... ndidate). The intern will be involved in all aspects of wildlife medicine, including hematology, parasitology, cytology, radiography, anesthesia, medical treatments (restraint, medicating, IV catheter placement, venipuncture, wound care, bandaging, etc.), necropsy, husbandry, nutrition, rehabilitation, record maintenance, telephone consultations, and presentations at rounds. This internship specializes in veterinary diagnostics, and a significant amount of time is spent performing CBC’s, cytology, fecal examinations, and wildlife parasitology. The intern also helps train senior veterinary and technician students performing externships at the Center.

Wildlife Rehabilitation Supervisor
Wildlife Center of Virginia The WCV is a non-profit conservation organization with a professionally staffed, fully equipped, 5,700 square foot hospital, research, and environmental education center located i... n Waynesboro, Virginia, in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. WCV is presented with approximately 3,700 patients annually representing more than 200 different species. In 2021, 50 percent of patient admissions were mammals;10 percent were reptiles/amphibians; 40 percent were birds (including nearly 400 raptors and vultures). The WCV is the only center in the state permitted to rehabilitate Black Bears. The Wildlife Rehabilitation Supervisor is responsible for the daily rehabilitation operations in the veterinary department; supervises two Wildlife Rehabilitators, Wildlife Rehabilitation Intern, and Rehabilitation Externship students; coordinates the Center’s Apprenticeship Program, Externship Program; ensures daily care of patients at the hospital; works in coordination with the Wildlife Care Academy to develop and deliver educational content; acts as a liaison for rehabilitators and other contacts outside of the Center. Rockfish Wildlife Sanctuary Rockfish Wildlife Sanctuary (RWS) is seeking a strong, experienced professional who is passionate about wildlife and its importance to the environment.
The ED will have e... xperience leading and managing a nonprofit organization and will also have demonstrated experience in wildlife rehabilitation and/or wildlife advocacy. The successful candidate for this position will have strong development skills and will have experience in building authentic partnerships within and across communities to advance the mission of a nonprofit organization. The ED will be able to measure the organization’s success and advocate for financial resources to create improvements.
The successful applicant will furthermore have demonstrated initiative, creativity, flexibility and inspirational leadership for implementing program enhancements in their workplaces. The ED will work collaboratively with the RWS Board of Directors to identify priorities, contribute to strategic planning, and create fundraising strategies. Ultimately, the ED will be a dynamic and devoted individual who is excited to share our mission with our established donor base, prospective supporters, foundation representatives, and corporate partners. The ED will be expected to work with the Board and RWS staff to develop and implement strategies for accomplishing organizational goals.
Reporting to the Rockfish Wildlife Sanctuary Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for the organization’s staff, programs, expansion, fundraising and execution of mission. The ED is expected to have a sound knowledge of effective wildlife rehabilitation practices as well as exemplary skills in managing a nonprofit organization.
