The Catholic Legal Immigration Network, Inc. (CLINIC), a nonprofit legal services organization, has an immediate full-time opening for a Paralegal. This position performs administrative support and coordination for attorneys in the Religious Immigration Services (RIS) Section. The main functions include administrative support to the assigned Staff Attorneys, performing all administrative functions as directed, primarily related to the attorney’s caseload and case preparation. The paralegal must be extremely organized and meticulous.
 
The candidate will work alongside a team of experienced immigration attorneys and professionals. Will prepare and file petitions using LawLogix. Experience in preparing immigration petitions, applications, and visas is essential. The candidate should have 1 to 3 years of experience with a focus on employment-based immigration law. Must have knowledge of how to prepare, and file petitions, and case management experience using an immigration case management database system, preferably LawLogix. Experience with data entry, MS word, and MS excel also required.   
 
SALARY: $60,000- $65,000

The Staff Attorney has responsibility for designing and conducting trainings (both in-person and virtually), providing technical support, and writing/updating articles and other legal resource materials. The attorney in this position must analyze and apply immigration law principles to complex questions and fact scenarios. This is a temporary, 2-year, grant-funded position with the possibility of renewal.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain a broad knowledge and understanding of U.S. immigration law and be informed about changes in immigration regulations and policies.
• Provide accurate and comprehensive legal advice and mentoring to California community college student fellows on the practice of law as well as procedural and substantive immigration law matters, including but not limited to family-based immigration; naturalization; inadmissibility and deportability; asylum, Temporary Protected Status, DACA, Violence Against Women Act, U visas and other humanitarian relief; removal defense; humanitarian parole; and relief for Afghan evacuees and Ukrainian arrivals.

• Assist in preparing curriculum for and conducting in-person and virtual trainings, cohort meetings, and webinars on a range of substantive immigration law topics.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Juris Doctor Degree
• Member in good standing of the Bar of the highest court in any State or the District of Columbia
• Preference for knowledge and experience with immigration legal service providers in California
• Three years or more of experience in immigration law
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong organizational, problem-solving, social, and analytical skills
• Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines and the ability to travel on occasion for trainings and conferences

The Director of Immigration Services (Attorney) is responsible for the oversight, administration, and execution of immigration programs and grants for the Immigration Integration Help Center (IIHC) according to ELF’s vision and mission statement. Moreover, the director provides legal immigration counseling to immigrant families in the Central Valley.

Responsibilities may include initiation and setting goals for immigration programs to the strategic objectives of the organization, planning the programs from start to completion involving deadlines, milestones, and processes, and developing or approving budgets and operations. Furthermore, the director ensures that applicable federal, state, and local regulations, ELF case management policies, and the Code of Ethics and Conduct provide assigned legal services. The Director works collaboratively with our staff, including the Program Manager, Staff attorneys, administrative support staff, and case workers, to provide client-centered, holistic services.
