Facilitator: Seeking Safety Group for Women Living with HIV
East Los Angeles Women's Center
Under the direct supervision of the program supervisor, the HIV Group Facilitator will conduct quality, trauma informed, comprehensive group and individual intervention activities to women with HIV that have been impacted by trauma and/or substance use. The HIV Group Facilitator will provide comprehensive HIV heath education, facilitation of seeking safety curriculum, linkage to HIV care, and supportive services.
The HIV Group Facilitator will be responsible for the overall assistance with prevention activities, community outreach, and the recruitment of program participants.

Individual will provide sterile syringes, and other harm reduction supplies, written and verbal education, and referral information for the SEP, as well as conduct client recruitment and refer to counseling and testing services, introduce Harm Reduction philosophy, document participant records accurately, and adhere to strict procedures of confidentiality, release of information and data security. Health Educator/Outreach Worker will offer and provide participant referrals and linkages for all necessary services with the emphasis of providing HIV/HCV/SUD treatment options. One-on-one counseling, and data entry skills are highly desirable. Candidate should have a working knowledge of substance use disorder and HIV/HCV/STD/PrEP/PEP services. Experience working diverse populations, culturally competent and an interest in working with others at risk for or living with HIV/HCV. Health Educator/Outreach Worker I Department: SAMHSA Minority Aids Service

TTC’s Whole Health Integration Project Plus Social Networking Strategy (WHIP+SNS) will target men who have sex with men (MSM), people who inject drugs (PWID), and others at risk for HIV/Hepatitis, with a focus on racial/ethnic minorities.

TTC’s Outreach Specialist on the project will conduct community outreach through social media and presentations at partner agencies. In addition, will implement a new evidence-based practice, SNS, enlisting program participants, alumni, and others to recruit high risk individuals in their social networks for HIV testing. Street outreach will be conducted in areas frequented by the target population, such as local community colleges/universities, nightclubs, and homeless drop-in centers. TTC is especially adept at reaching the homeless population who often have co-occurring SUD, mental illness, and/or HIV infection and assisting them address core problems of addiction, mental illness, and housing and economic instability. Project staff will accompany TTC Outreach Workers in the field to inform homeless individuals and others of available behavioral health services and HIV and hepatitis primary care and prevention services. The overall aim of TTC’s WHIP+SNS is to expand access to fully integrated evidence-based, culturally competent behavioral health services and HIV/Hepatitis testing and care/ prevention services for those most at risk for HIV/Hepatitis in LAC

Participate in outreach efforts at community sites and in-reach at TTC service sites; provide follow-up as needed to engage potential participants or those who have fallen out of care. BA/BS preferred with 3-5 years customer service experience in related field; equivalent related experience may be substituted for degree. Candidate will have at minimum two years relevant experience within Healthcare services/promotion, community-based organization, outreach, Intake coordination, and/or social services setting.

Candidate should have a working knowledge of substance use disorder and mental health treatment services, and Integrative care. Strong organizational, initiative and willingness to learn, knowledgeable about LGBTQ and respectful of varying identities within the LGBTQ community. Experience working effectively with culturally, socio-economically, and ethnically diverse populations. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule. Culturally competent with an interest in working with target population (young minority MSM and others at risk for or living with HIV). Excellent customer service, communication and organizational skills are strongly desired.
