Postdoc - systems & comp. neuroscience in naturalistic behaviors
HHMI Janelia Research Campus The Voigts lab at Janelia is looking for postdocs interested in working on how flexible cognition is implemented. We'll work on how neocortex builds and uses models of the world t... o give animals cognitive abilities. We'll specifically go beyond repeated (memorized?) stimulus-response associations and instead study flexible cognition in mice during complex naturalistic behavior. Our main challenge will be to develop theoretical tools and conceptual approaches to answer the question of how the brain learns and applies structured models of its environment. Our work will require a solid foundation in quantitative methods and experience with systems neuroscience, though we can teach a lot of things and expect the lab to be very collaborative. Candidates will benefit from the unusual amount of freedom, ability to get challenging experiments done with strong technical and logistical support, and strong collaborations with other experimental, theory and computational groups at Janelia.

Unfortunately this position is not eligible for U.S. visa sponsorship; candidates must show proof of authorization to work in the U.S.
Informal version: I work here and I love it!! If you think you’d like teaching and conducting research with just undergraduates, please reach out. While the emphasis is on human neuroscience for one course, you have freedom in the others. We would actually love someone with some computational expertise and who can teach stats for neuro. There are also excellent shared resources for computational research which I make use of. I started in a visiting position fresh from a PhD and recently moved to tenure-track, so this could be an excellent opportunity for the right person :)

Postdoc in theoretical and computational neuroscience
University of Chicago The Noorman lab is seeking a postdoc in theoretical and computational neuroscience.
