Tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor - Immunology

Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine, in Ames, Iowa, is accepting applications for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor in Immunology within the Department of Veterinary Microbiology and Preventive Medicine (VMPM). VMPM provides teaching and research in immunology, infectious diseases, bacterial and viral pathogenesis, host-microbe interactions, vaccine development, antimicrobial resistance, food safety, and public health. Rank will be determined by the qualifications, documented experience, and research interests of the selected candidate.

Responsibilities of this 9-month, tenure or tenure-eligible position include establishing and maintaining an active, extramurally funded, independent research program focused on the immunology of infectious diseases in an area complementary to established programs in the department (70%); contribute to the teaching needs of the VMPM department (20%); and perform university service (10%). Areas of research consistent with the mission of VMPM include, but are not limited to: mechanisms of resistance to viral and bacterial infections, vaccinology, genomics, proteomics, and host/pathogen interactions. Teaching responsibilities may lie within the undergraduate, graduate, and/or professional veterinary curriculum.

The successful candidate must have a collegial, collaborative attitude and willingness to participate in departmental programs and committees. PhD Student Assistantship

The Animal Cellular and Molecular Biology graduate program at the University of Florida is seeking applications from prospective Ph.D. students for a competitive Dean’s Award from the College and Agriculture and Life Sciences. The CALS Dean’s Award offers a four-year stipend of $30,000 per year and a full tuition waiver for the duration of the Ph.D. program.

Program Description
The Animal Molecular and Cellular Biology program is a multidisciplinary program with a goal to educate graduate students with an understanding of the principles of molecular and cell biology and the application of this knowledge to contemporary problems of comparative biology. Faculty and students in the AMCB work in the fields of animal science, veterinary medicine, wildlife biology, zoology, and biotechnology. Examples of faculty research interests in the program include genetics, immunology, nutritional physiology and reproductive biology. The AMCB program allows for students to complete coursework tailored to the student’s program interests. Application and Selection Process
Interested applicants should apply through the University of Florida Graduate School. In addition, applicants must be nominated for the fellowship by a faculty member of the AMCB program. Students must have a minimum grade point average of 3.0 out of 4 for admission to the University of Florida Graduate School. The GRE is not required. International students must pass English proficiency exam.

Associate Professor of Epidemioloy

The Epidemiologist advances the goals of the Center for Animal & Human Health in Appalachia (CAHA) established by the Lincoln Memorial University-College of Veterinary Medicine. The CAHA Epidemiologist works directly with the CAHA Executive Director and Program Manager to develop long range research plans and collaborations at the local, state and national levels in the areas of infectious disease emergence, veterinary economics, education and pedagogy, and community outreach. The CAHA Epidemiologist will study factors influencing health and diseases among humans, animals and the environment throughout the Appalachian region, and will use this information to support research, education, and the practice of preventive medicine. The CAHA Epidemiologist will work to support the missions of CAHA by contributing to community educational program-development including continuing education for medical professionals, the annual CAHA conference, and university curricular development in support of CAHAs mission to improve animal health and public health in the Appalachian region.
