• Perform extensive laboratory analysis of water quality parameters.
• Analyze data and prepare technical reports and publications for peer-reviewed journals.
• Collaborate with other team members and external partners to achieve research objectives.
Requirements:
• Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering or a related field.
• Strong background in wastewater treatment and/or resource recovery processes.
• Experience with analytical techniques for environmental analysis.
• Excellent communication and writing skills.

The initial appointment will be for one year, with the possibility of renewal for a second year based on performance and availability of funding.

Our team is hiring a Technical Officer, Material Thermal/Structural Analyst to support our Construction Research Centre. The Technical Officer would be someone who shares our core values of Integrity, Excellence, Respect and Creativity.
The Technical Officer will provide practical laboratory expertise in the thermal analysis, spectroscopy and rheology of construction materials for the Construction Research Centre (CRC), and the Facades Systems and Products (FSP) group in particular. The Technical Officer will use and maintain laboratories with a range of sophisticated instruments to undertake material analysis, in addition to several types of environmental chambers for accelerated aging. The Technical Officer will help with the hands-on development of novel methods of analysis and collaborate with researchers in the conception, planning, and execution of research projects for clients internal and external to the CRC. This individual will contribute to contractual work, research and development, and participate in the transfer of technology to industry with contributions in the writing of technical papers, magazine articles, and presentation of research results.
A minimum of College diploma or Bachelor degree in chemistry, polymer science/engineering, material science/engineering or other discipline related to the position.

This position requires: 
•    Practical and strong knowledge of thermal analysis and rheology of materials, specifically polymeric materials
•    Practical knowledge of materials chemistry/structure and properties with a strong emphasis on construction materials.
•    Knowledge of documenting test results, analysis and report writing. 
•    Ability to accurately interpret technical direction from a variety of sources including engineering drawings, industry standards and standardized procedures.
