Administrative Support
Perform clerical and administrative support functions for the Office of Black Student Success (OBSS), including but not limited to the following, answer inquiries from campus and local communities, coordinating, scheduling, and executing programs and events in support of the OBSS, maintaining student records, coordinating marketing efforts, scheduling appointments, scheduling meetings, facilitate communications with students, faculty, and staff, etc. Collaborate with Student Employment, Payroll, and Human Resources (HR) to assist with the onboarding, offboarding, and timecards of all students and employees. Work collaboratively with VPSA office personnel to make purchases and will work independently to process and retain records for all accounts payable and receivables, including working with stateside and auxiliary account services, procurement & contracts, etc., in support of the OBSS Ability to handle multiple work unit priorities to support staff such supporting the OBSS day-to-day operations by entering work orders as needed for facilities, Telecommunications and Network Services (TNS), Information Technology Services (ITS), etc., while also assisting the OBSS Director and Division of Student Affairs (DSA) leadership with data collection, recordkeeping, and report development. The Area Coordinator (AC) position is a new full-time, live-in professional who manages the daily operations and leadership of their assigned area. Their responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following areas: Serving as a lead to Residential Life Coordinators (RLCs), Resident Assistants (RAs), and Student Assistants (SAs); case coordination centering around student behavior, residential curriculum and community development; serving as a chair for a committee (e.g., student staff selection, training, RHA, operations, marketing/recognition/ assessment, etc.); and administrative components.
The committees are collaborative in nature and require Area Coordinators to have strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. In addition, the Area Coordinators will be charged with implementing an intentional thematic community engagement plan that incorporates the learning outcomes and goals of the residential curriculum with the nuances and needs of the thematic community they lead.
The Area Coordinators will assist the department in streamlining processes, creating manuals and training guides, and taking on special projects as needed. As with most new positions, this role may evolve with the changing needs of the department.

The incumbent is also responsible for the overall coordination, staffing, policy, and budget development, and management of all on-campus residence halls (currently 2100 bed spaces, new residence hall adding approximately 350 beds coming on line 2026); guide the live-in staff team towards the development of residence hall communities that integrate the students' residential and academic experiences, academic support programs and the facilitation of faculty involvement in the residence hall communities (Faculty in Residence/Faculty Mentor Program). The Associate Director oversees residence hall and University Policy violations (Title 5) involving residence hall students. The incumbent will work closely with the Residence Hall Coordinators in creating an environment of innovation and creativity while also valuing individual and group differences and instilling in staff through teaching and role modeling the departmental values of Integrity, Teamwork, Respect, Customer Service, Professionalism, and Innovation.
