Position Summary: The Vice President of Academic Affairs will possess vitality and vision as a talented and recognized artist and/or designer and be a highly experienced college-level instructor and academic administrator who will help lead LCAD into the future- composed of leading educators and creative industry professionals. The Vice President provides leadership for academic affairs which includes ably steering the growth and development of all programs and forward-thinking interdisciplinary, group and project-based art and design curricula in concert with academic leadership and faculty. This requires a sophisticated understanding of emerging and future trends in art and design and the capacity to respond to changes in industry and technology through innovative adaptation in teaching and learning at LCAD. Building and facilitating collaborations across academic departments and supporting cross-disciplinary teaching and learning through innovative models and pedagogy will be of central importance. This individual will be passionate about the critical role of artists and designers in actively considering planetary health in its array of global social, cultural, economic, and environmental contexts and challenges as aligned with LCAD’s core purpose.

These could include indigenous design knowledges, applied experimentation in visual communication, social interaction design, liberatory approaches to the development and the dissemination of knowledge, social scientific approaches in urban or rural contexts, futuring/defuturing, collaboration across disciplines and with community partners, and design for dismantling and reimagining inequities faced by historically marginalized communities.
