Air Quality Research Center, Univ. of California Join the Air Quality Research Center at UC Davis and help us operate the two largest U.S. air monitoring networks. Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager, provide... expertise and perform quality assurance oversight for our EDXRF spectrometers which analyze ~40,000 ambient air samples a year. Use your skills to help develop XRF applications which reduce our limits of detection for elements important to understanding environmental and human health effects. Monitor performance and quality of our XRF analyses and report issues and solutions to the laboratory manager. Develop enhancements to our standard operating procedures and help train analysts to perform routine measurements and quality control checks. Apply your expertise to help guide the direction of our lab, instrument upgrades, and replacements. Additionally, support our team in the development of ambient aerosol reference materials to help support XRF use in air quality all over the world. You will also have the opportunity to use your analytical skills outside of the XRF lab and assist with our automated gravimetric analysis and optical analysis laboratories. Applicants must have a Master’s degree and at least 2 years of hands-on XRF experience including developing applications, performing calibrations, and working out spectral interferences.
