SeaMar Health Centers Sea Mar Community Health Centers is seeking a full-time Lactation Promotion Supervisor for its WIC Department offices across Washington in Seattle, Everett, Bellingham, Tacoma, Ol... ympia, and Vancouver. Under the direction of the WIC Program Director, the Lactation Promotion Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the Breastfeeding Peer Counselors and providing Breastfeeding education and support to patients of the Health Center. Coordinates Breastfeeding Peer Counselor program. Responsible for reporting, data gathering, maintenance of program files and records, monthly statistics, writing of the Nutritional Education Plan and managing the Breastfeeding Grant. Plans and provides Breastfeeding consultations, in-services and continuing education opportunities to WIC/Nutrition Department staff and Sea Mar staff. Plans, implements and evaluates the Breastfeeding services provided by the WIC/Nutrition department, determines the nature and extent of Breastfeeding needs and problems of the WIC target population, and implements policies, standards and services to meet client needs. Coordinates these services with the MSS Program. Participates in selected committees, such as Quality Improvement and Joint Commission to monitor and improve the overall functioning of Sea Mar Community Health Centers. Supervises, directs, schedules and provides training for the Breastfeeding Peer Counselors. Conducts regular staff meetings and acts as a liaison for nutrition staff to management, other Sea Mar staff, and state nutrition staff. Education and/or Experience: - International Board Certified lactation Consultation (IBCLC) required. - Possess a BS or BA degree from an accredited college or university is preferred. - Experience with the WIC program, multicultural populations is preferred. -Maintain current IBCLC credentials

Conduct nutritional screening and assessment for patients/clients to include anthropometric and laboratory data, collection of nutrition history, calculatio... n of nutrition adequacy, and identification of drug-nutrient interactions.
Utilize motivational interviews to identify desired goals and outcomes of nutrition care in collaboration with patient/client and health care professionals. Considers the variables that may influence the patient/client’s food-related behaviors, including culture and social determinants of health.
Evaluate and provide evidence-based nutrition recommendations to address patient/client medical needs. Understands and evaluates patient/client nutrition status and its relationship to complex disease states including diabetes, cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, gastrointestinal disorders, cancer, food allergies, and obesity.
Collaborate with physicians and other health care professionals to advocate for and implement optimal nutrition care.
Provide preventative services and counseling at individual patient/client visits and group meetings.
