Postdoc in Computer Science of SUNY-Albany

We are looking for a postdoctoral fellow, for an NSF-Funded project, who is interested in developing predictive models to identify and detect procrastination processes in students while studying in an online learning environment. The postdoctoral fellow will work in the Computer Science Department, as part of an interdisciplinary team with an expertise in machine learning and education, at the State University of New York – Albany, Albany, USA. The research has an emphasis on temporal and social modeling of student trace, survey, and interaction data, using sequential and process models. Requirements:
PhD (or near completion of PhD) in machine learning, or computer science with a focus of educational data mining, recommender systems, or social network modeling;
A strong research record, documented by recent publications in the past 3 years;
Good communication skills and fluency in English;
Being highly motivated and creative, enjoying working in a collaborative research environment.
The position is provided for up to 2 years with competitive salary. The starting dates are flexible (available starting August 1st, 2019). As a psychometrician, you will use your knowledge of psychological methods to improve our (adaptive) learning environment. On the one hand, you will support the content team by analyzing play data of hundreds of thousands of users answering +/- 1.7 million questions per day, and deriving actionable insights on (for example) the appropriate difficulty level of the content, the engagement impact of different question types, and how to determine content mastery for our learners. On the other hand, you will be responsible for improving the adaptive algorithm, making suggestions for improvements based on analyses, and supporting the product and engineering teams with implementing these suggestions.
In your role you are responsible for identifying and prioritizing areas in need of improvement, executing the required analyses, and providing the relevant stakeholders with actionable advice. When necessary, you will also design and execute experiments on the platform, possibly in collaboration with other parties. You are also expected to keep track of the research frontier in computerized adaptive testing, and incorporate new techniques when relevant.

Sorbonne University (SU) seeks applicants for a full professorship with a 4 years chair in “AI & Human Learning” or “Learning Analytics”. The chair comes with a package that includes 150k€ a year (600k€ in total) to pay for PhD/postdoc salaries and necessary equipment.
We are looking for a distinguished researcher with an excellent track record in AI applied to education, able to lead interdisciplinary research and collaborate with 2 SU research labs: ISIR (Institute for Intelligent Systems and Robotics) and LIP6 (CS Laboratory), in particular with the MOCAH team specialized in TEL, and will be part of the newly founded SCAI (Sorbonne Center for Artificial Intelligence).
