We are motivated to reduce carbon emissions across society to help reach net zero and reduce fuel poverty with the help of our ground-breaking flow battery we designed using Lithium Sulphur (Li-S) battery technology as our foundation.
As a Chemist / Chemical Engineer, you will carry out innovative battery research tasks in order to improve and further develop this cutting-edge flow battery technology. You will work closely with the Chemistry Team to achieve flow battery development goals set by the company.
Main responsibilities:
Conduct research tasks with the intention to help improve electrolytes, cathode and anode subsystems and the membranes Liaise with a technically diverse, distributed team across the company and with external partners Undertake any necessary training on Li-S flow battery technology Support the Chemistry Team Take responsibility for identifying priorities, risks, equipment needs, and research opportunities
Key requirements:
Strong knowledge of electrochemistry and batteries (preferred experience with Li-S batteries or Li-Ion batteries) Knowledge of battery characterisation, different chemical subsystems of batteries and battery development BSc or higher degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or relevant discipline Experience undertaking literature surveys, documentation, and reporting 2 years’ experience in the industry would be preferred Experience working on Li-S, Li-ion, flow battery, or related research fields would be advantageous Hands-on experience in organic/inorganic chemical R&D would be a plus Excellent project management and organisational skills

We supply our existing small to medium scale battery systems to communities, homes and businesses in the UK and Canada. We have also developed an AI platform, the TRAICON, a system that optimises our battery systems at cell level and according to external data such as grid or weather APIs.
Main responsibilities: • Design engineering including electrical systems, wiring diagrams, electrical circuits • Planning test procedures and system testing support • Being responsible for the project management of contracts and services • Overseeing all engineering aspects of our projects on-site • Managing on-site installation and commissioning works • Controlling costs and meet project deadlines • Problem-solving, and providing technical and hands on support Key requirements: • BSc or higher degree in Electrical/Electronic engineering or equivalent • Basic knowledge of energy storage and renewable energy; a working knowledge of instrument wiring and panel wiring; • 3 years+ experience in design and installation of renewable energy/energy storage systems are preferred • Domestic or industrial wiring experience, design of electrical systems (including wiring diagrams), electrical circuits and SLDs • Strong organisation and time-management skills with the ability to work on their own initiative and manage multiple projects • Effective communication and interpersonal skills • Can demonstrate commitment to high standards, society and the environment
