Computer Lab and Tutor Program Coordinator

The Computer Lab and Tutoring Coordinator (Instructional Support Technician IV in the PCC Classification system) collaborates closely with the ABE/GED Instructors to evaluate the instructional needs of students, assign appropriate subject areas using education software (i.e Aztec Learning System), work with students individually and in groups, and monitor student progress, assigning new subject areas as needed.
Another important component to the position is the recruiting, training, supervising, and mentoring of inmate peer-tutors assigned to ABE/GED students. There is ongoing collaboration with tutors and the ABE/GED instructor regarding lesson planning, educational strategies, educational resources and the readiness of students to test (both CASAS and GED.)
The position is responsible for the general cleanliness and security of the lab in cooperation with DOC security and security plus staff, providing a safe environment and reporting security and/or maintenance problems as they occur.
