Student Success Coach - TRIO program

The Harris-Stowe State University TRIO Student Support Services Program serves 162 students from various backgrounds. Our primary focus for student participants that are Low-income, first-generation college students and or with disabilities evidencing academic needs.

The Student Support Services- Student Success Coach will have full commitment to the program and will report to the Director of Student Support Services and will assist in identifying the academic, personal, financial and career needs of the participants.

The TRiO Student Success Coach responsibilities are to monitor the retention of program participants while providing academic advising and support throughout the academic year. The SSC is required to plan activities, cultural experience, trips, and graduate school visits. The coach will also co-instruct SSS seminar courses. Must maintain data input and documentation for student participants for federal TRiO Student Support Services Grant. The position is contingent upon continued grant funding per the Department of Education.

Upward Bound Director

AIM is seeking an experienced project director for the Upward Bound grant program at Bryan High School. This position is full-time and year-round, and may include evenings and weekends.

The Upward Bound program works with low-income, first-generation students to prepare them for college entrance by providing them with opportunities through mentoring, work-study programs, and financial or education counseling. This role has responsibilities in maintaining and developing relationships between AIM/the UB program, the students we serve, and community leaders/administrators; managing budgets; building awareness; supervising and coaching coordinators, tutors, and mentors; and providing presentations to support our relationships in the community.

The ideal candidate for this position will have experience in an academic environment, familiarity with grants (writing and administration), and has a personality that reflects AIM's core values: brilliant, engaging, resourceful, and tech-savvy.

Responsibilities:

Coordinating academic support program and establishing priorities
Developing strategies to recruit students from the target populations
Communicating regularly with District and School staff, college and universities
Coordinating data and record management and establishing policies and procedures
Creating effective relationships with faculty, staff, and administrators
Partnering with campus units and organizations to promote increased retention and graduation
Maintaining relationships with other organizations that have an impact on low-income, first-generation college students, serving as a liaison to the Department of Education; and designing a comprehensive evaluation program to assess the impact of project activities and services

Talent Search Coordinator

AIM needs a bold, engaging, supportive, tech-savvy (yes, that spells “best”) College & Career Site Coordinator to serve youth in our program at Monroe Middle School and Benson High School. This is a fun, challenging, and meaningful position with major impact. You will manage the daily administration of a grant-funded program for academically promising teens who are low-income, first-generation students. You will work with students to provide services to help them reach their full potential—that means academic advisement, help with career research and college planning, and leading workshops and other program activities.

You will have scheduled appointments with students. You will also get to experience occasional staff development opportunities to ensure that project activities are top-quality. It’s a Monday-Friday gig with some evening and weekend duties.

Our ideal candidate is English/Spanish bilingual, has a background in education or mentoring, and is strongly tech-savvy, especially with Google Suite or Microsoft Office. Project Director Upward Bound
Rock Valley College
Responsible for the day-to-day oversight of the Upward Bound program (Auburn and East High Schools). Counsel Upward Bound participants as they enter the program and on an on-going basis.  Coordinate and develop assigned academic services, records, reports, and program development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Additional related duties may be assigned.

Complete Upward Bound program administrative paperwork.

Oversee and maintain accurate records of student results, program outcomes, and performance standards within the Upward Bound program.

Student counsel 60 Upward Bound students, including the development of participant Individual Achievement Plans (IAPs).

Manage high school sites and supervise Lead Teachers and Tutor Mentors.

Supervise the Program Assistant.

Administer and maintain testing instruments and academic progress of students.

Develop and coordinate participant recruitment, selection, and orientation.

Provide career, financial, and college selection counseling.

Provide referrals and resources for participants that have personal issues or needs.

Establish and maintain relationships with school officials, community agencies, and participants’ parents/guardians. 

Coordinate weekly academic and pre-collegiate instructional activities at high school sites.

Coordinate academic programming for academic year and summer components.

Develop programming to address the personal and social development of participants.

Plan, coordinate, and supervise evening, weekend, overnight, and summer activities. 

Attend and participate in job related training, workshops, and conferences.

Assist in the recruitment, selection, and training of Lead Teachers and Tutor Mentors.

Regular attendance is expected.

Use tact and courtesy to establish and maintain professional working relationships.
