Innovation Project Assistant

The City of Aurora is accepting applications for the position of Project Assistant in the Community Services Department.

Under the general supervision of the Director of Innovation and Strategy, the Project Assistant supports the planning, implementation and coordination of special projects aligned with organization’s mission and goals.

Responsibilities include analyzing and researching relevant industry problems/trends/challenges/unmet needs; identifying and evaluating new technologies and innovation to introduce innovation methods and techniques to significantly impact service, process, and operations; collaborate with community organizations and stakeholders to consolidate resources; create and maintain complex spreadsheets/databases; provide administrative support of the Innovation Division programs, services, and initiatives.

Requires the ability to maintain project management and customer relationship management software; proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and/or Microsoft 365 tools; strong organizational and time management skills; the ability to communicate effectively within small groups and public speaking contexts; and excellent relationship building skills.

Requires a minimum of three years’ experience in innovation-related work in public service, higher education, community development, and/or business development.
