ELI ERIC Intership at the Radioprotection department of highpower laser facility, for University students or fresh graduates.
Depending on your skills, interests, and experience, yo... u will be taking part at/shadowing researchers/helping with: • Radiation protection operational activities • Experiments set up and data taking • Evaluation of radiation fields by means of Monte Carlo simulations • Data analysis and data - Monte Carlo
Lund University The postdoctoral position is linked to a sub-project in a larger research project, funded by the Swedish Agency for Contingencies (MSB), with a focus on preventive measures agains... t antagonistic use of radioactive substances in the public environment. In the project, special focus will be on the detectability of large scale exposures of members of the public by current retrospective dosimetry techniques. These techniques involve luminescent detectors such as TL/OSL sensitive materials, and to a limited extent also biodosimetric or computational methods. In collaboration with the Swedish Defence Research Agency, the postdoctoral researcher must develop methods to be able to demonstrate whether rescue staff members and the public in a suspected malevolent event have been exposed to ionizing radiation, as well as validating these techniques by real in-situ measurements. The detection methods are linked to what are internationally referred to as “citizen dosimeters”, and which have been applied in e.g. in Japan after the Fukushima accident in 2011.
Doctoral candidate or postdoctoral researcher
in physics, chemistry, mathematics or computer science
Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt Your activities in Working Group 6.13 (Alpha and Gamma Spectrometry) will include tasks from the research field of environmental and climate metrology, especially radon ... metrology. You will be given the opportunity to obtain a doctorate or, in order to improve your scientific skills, to work as a postdoctoral researcher. You will support us in the following activities:
Performing experiments in alpha and gamma spectrometry, e.g., setting up radon sensor networks and enhancing the measurement technology in European greenhouse gas measurement networks
Developing modern calibration procedures, e.g., in-situ/operando
Carrying out data analyses, especially using machine learning/AI
Developing a process for providing digital results: FAIR data and the digital calibration certificate (DCC)
Participating in interdisciplinary PTB teams from the fields of science, engineering and technology
Participating in European project teams as part of third-party funded projects
Publishing and presenting the research results
Your profile:
You have completed your university studies (master’s degree or German Diplom) in physics, chemistry, mathematics, computer science or a comparable discipline.
You have basic knowledge of the statistical analysis of experimental results.
You ideally have experience in alpha and gamma spectrometry and radionuclide metrology as well as in data analysis, machine learning and digitalization.
You are prepared to deal with ionizing radiation.
You have the commitment and ability to work independently and have a well-structured working style.
You are a strong team player with excellent communication skills.
You have achieved A2 level in German and B2 level in English.
You are willing to travel for work both in Germany and abroad.
ELI-NP The position is within the Dosimetry Laboratory of ELI-NP, which is in charge of the personnel and area monitoring. Depending on your skills or goals, we can agree to focus on... some specific topics from below: -- operating passive dosimetry systems for routine monitoring; -- planning tests, contributing to the evaluation of the systems performances throughout the type tests, implementing technical ISO requirements and validating methods. -operating passive (BeOSL, TASL) and active (LUPIN, NAUSICAA, Spectrometers, etc.) dosimetry and detection systems. -management responsabilities derived from ISO 17025 and QA tasks.
