Community Engagement Internship
Foundations for Social Change
We are looking to hire an intern who identifies as Indigenous and who has encountered barriers to employment. The intern will work with our Peer Coordinator and Program Manager to design and implement a community engagement process called ‘SEN’ (Storytelling, Experience Building, Narrative Inquiry). SEN is a process that will allow us to engage deeply with our expansion project participants and improve our ability to advocate for policy changes and persuade at a government level by elevating the voice of people with lived/living experience through meaningful and collaborative storytelling.

In supporting and learning from the SEN process, the intern will gain unique skills related to community engagement and organizing, research and leadership, along with other experiences and training that will all be valuable in securing future work. Our Peer Coordinator was a cash transfer recipient during our pilot, and will be working closely on the SEN process. Their personal experience and interest in community work can offer the intern valuable learnings on community leadership. Our Research & Design Manager is an experienced ethnographic researcher who can offer the intern insights into academic research processes. Additionally, FSC will be working with a social design organization to support the SEN process. This collaboration will involve coaching and support with multiple elements of SEN, and will also provide the intern with further knowledge on conducting a unique community engagement project.
