Senior Software Engineer

DroneDeploy’s Earthworks team is looking for an experienced Back End Engineer to join the team. The Earthworks team works on DroneDeploy's core aerial reality capture platform with a focus on GIS applications and high accuracy mapping. Responsibilities
• Work deeply with GIS concepts including raster data processing, coordinate systems, and GNSS data.
• Build performant, scalable services with REST and GraphQL APIs
• Build monitoring and analysis tools for high-utilization deployments
• Debug issues with complex interactions across multiple services.
• Work with SQL and NoSQL databases
• Design and implement APIs, and transform requirements into clear business logic
• Be a highly productive engineer that can write, ship, document, and maintain code.
• Be a primary owner of code quality and best practices for the codebase.
• Bring innovative and new ideas to improve our products & processes.
• Collaborate with Product teams and Tech leads to drive product development

Requirements
• 4+ years of recent backend or full stack experience and comfort with working on back end services.
• Deep understanding of modern web applications design architecture, good API design patterns, performance and scale.
• Proficient in Python
• Experience working on SQL and NoSQL databases
• Experience designing and integrating REST or GraphQL APIs.
• Experience with GIS software such as Esri ArcGIS, QGIS, GDAL, Rasterio, PROJ, PDAL, PostGIS, etc.
• A healthy balance between loving to ship code fast and keeping up best practices for our code repositories.
• Experience with building SaaS products is a plus
• Experience in Aviation or Drone/UAS space a plus

Senior Geospatial Database Software Engineer

We are looking for passionate, skilled, and experienced software engineers to join Wherobots’ dynamic team in building the distributed geospatial cloud database of the future.

As a software engineer in our SedonaDB & geospatial analytics team, you will:
* Design and implement scalable and efficient query capabilities at the core of our geospatial cloud database
* Implement new vector and raster functions to extend SedonaDB’s feature set on geospatial datasets
* Make open-source contributions to Apache Sedona, Apache Spark, and other open-source software packages where necessary
* Improve the performance, observability, and reliability of SedonaDB’s distributed query engine

We are 100% cloud-native, and build our product using modern and reliable tools and technologies. SedonaDB and Apache Spark are built in Java and Scala, with deeply optimized Python wrappers and SDKs, and are deployed on cloud-based Kubernetes environments.

Qualifications:
* Strong technical background, including 5+ years of hands-on experience implementing scalable, distributed spatial query algorithms and applications
* Proficiency in Java and/or Scala required
* A proven track record of building high-quality, maintainable, and observable software
* Solid understanding of distributed systems, query engines, DSLs, data structures, and algorithms

Nice to have:
* Hands-on experience programming in Python
* Experience with large-scale geospatial data processing and applications

Compensation and benefits: base salary range is $150k-250k/yr. Benefits include 100% coverage of medical, dental, and vision insurance, access to a 401(k) plan, and unlimited PTO.

GIS Specialist (3x)

U-Spatial and the University of Minnesota Climate Adaptation Partnership (MCAP) are collaborating to hire a cohort of three GIS Specialists.

The two positions placed with U-Spatial will work on projects with colleagues from throughout all colleges and campuses, as well as clients from the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. The MCAP role will focus on the development of geospatial resources that enable the integration of climate data and information into decision making. All three GIS Specialists will be able to leverage resources available through the University of Minnesota and U-Spatial to allow for the development of creative solutions that integrate the expertise of the client with the Specialists’ geospatial expertise.
