Tenure track faculty positions in computer science
Montana State University
Note that this is not the official vacancy announcement as that is still being developed.

The Gianforte School of Computing at Montana State University is searching to fill multiple tenure track faculty positions in the areas of machine learning, data science, and/or systems, one of which is a new endowed position. Part of the search is related to the recently won 5-year NSF EPSCoR RII Track 1 grant that we are calling Smart FireS. If interested, please email Dr. John Sheppard to be put on the list to get more information as it becomes available.

Postdoctoral position at the University of Parma, Italy
University of Parma
A call for candidates for a 3-year appointment funded by the "DARE – Digital Lifelong Prevention" project at the University of Parma, Italy, opened on July 7th. The work is expected to start on November 1st.

The hired non-tenure-track temporary assistant professor (RTD-A by its Italian acronym, Scientific Sector ING-INF/05, Data Processing Systems) will support the research activities of DARE pilot projects, which will be mainly oriented at developing machine-learning models and data acquisition tools to:

- extract clinical information from clinical images, signals, and data

- assess a subject's risk of contracting a disease

- formulate personalized treatments

DARE is a national-scale large research project. Therefore, the hired researcher will work in a multi-disciplinary, dynamic environment with frequent contact with other research teams.

Although the position is officially a non-tenure-track assistant professorship, and the appointee's duties may include teaching, the research/technical development component of the work will be given more relevance than academic teaching.

Requirements:

- Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related topics

- experience with machine learning methods and tools

- good programming skills

- good research curriculum in computational intelligence, data analysis, image and signal processing/analysis.

Algorithm developer (industry position)
Dots and Lines Ltd.
We are Dots and Lines Ltd., a Croatia-based startup specialising in optimisation algorithms.
Our work focuses on software for transportation optimisation and scheduling (workforce optimisation). We are small but quickly growing, with clients in Australia, Scandinavia, Ireland, Switzerland, and potentially even more places.

We are searching for new algorithm developers to join us.
Ideal people would have a background in optimisation algorithms. Attractive areas are:
• metaheuristics (tabu search, simulated annealing, genetic algorithm and similar),
• linear and mixed integer programming,
• other types of optimisation algorithms.
Understanding the related theoretical computer science (O notation, P vs NP, no free lunch theorem) would be excellent. In addition, experience with Java is highly desired since we work predominantly with Java. An academic degree such as a PhD or MSc in the area is attractive but optional.

We are a fully distributed, digital-nomad-friendly team. Our staff is currently based in Croatia, Taiwan, and the Netherlands. We are flexible about the formal agreement. We are OK with employment and subcontracting, with full-time or part-time working hours.
