Senior Video Producer
Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project

The Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project (OCCRP), one of the world’s largest and most innovative investigative reporting organizations, is hiring a senior video producer to add to its award-winning video team.

We’re looking for an expert storyteller who can work in an unconventional environment. Collaboration and working seamlessly with a broad range of journalists is essential. OCCRP has the resources, support structure and international network to produce the most important stories with the best investigative journalists.

Principal Tasks
Write and produce feature-length documentary films as well as write and oversee short videos that compliment reporters’ investigations.
Work together with a broad range of investigative journalists across Eastern Europe (and beyond) and hire and manage freelance camerapersons, editors and animators as needed.
The job will require extensive travel and the ability to work under highly stressful conditions. The video department is small and the candidate is expected to work independently when not in the field.

Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree required.
A proven track record producing outstanding videos for top broadcasters or news associations.
Very good command of the English language (oral and written skills).
Ability to prioritize tasks in a high-energy, deadline-oriented environment.

OCCRP is one of the world’s leading investigative reporting organizations, with a staff of 130 and operations across the globe. We are known for producing high-quality, ambitious cross-border investigations under difficult conditions.

We’re looking for someone who can:
Demonstrate investigative reporting and editing skills.
- Work on OCCRP’s most high-profile investigations, including complex offshore financial schemes.
- Work productively, and in challenging conditions, with local journalists from a variety of journalistic traditions, cultures, levels of experience, and language proficiencies.
- Mentor less experienced editors.
- Edit investigations to a high quality while eliminating libel risk and identifying areas of potential litigation.
- Work with and train local reporters in investigative techniques and best practices with an eye to developing maximum efficiency.
- Gather news in a safe, ethical and productive manner.
- Source new data and original datasets.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues in remote settings.
Coordinating story scheduling, production, illustrations and promotion.
- Speak fluent English. Russian is a plus.
- Work effectively as part of a team (a track record of this kind of work is important).
- Demonstrate passion, thick skin, and the temperament to work in occasionally stressful conditions on high-stakes stories.

Amman- ARIJ is looking for an experienced managing editor with an excellent eye for the great investigative story. The candidate we are looking for is up to the challenge of leading the MENA region’s premiere investigative center where they should demonstrate excellent leadership, editing, mentoring and collaborative skills.

You will lead and grow our team of dedicated journalists, researchers and data specialists from our Amman offices.

You will commission and edit politically and socially sensitive investigative stories as well as smaller – but still important – “training” investigations.

You will safeguard our ethical, legal and professional standards for fairness, accuracy and levels of proof.

We are looking for the face of Arab investigative journalism that will combine good mentoring and teaching skills, leadership, patience, courage, resolve and the ability to both inspire respect from colleagues while demonstrating it to others. You must also be an efficient manager capable of meeting deadlines, solving problems and improving systems.

WE ARE:
ARIJ (Arab Reporters for Investigative Journalism) is the first investigative journalism network established in the Middle East and North Africa. Since it was created in 2006 it has become the premiere network for investigative reporters in the region. The ARIJ Annual Forum for Investigative Journalism gathers 500 journalists from the region every year.

Radio Dabanga produces independent news to make sure that everyone, wherever they are in Sudan, is aware of vital information. This includes news on political developments, human rights abuses, outbreaks of disease, and gender-based violence.

Radio Dabanga believes that representation of these issues in the media can help foster information exchange, understanding, and eventually peace in Sudan.

The station was created as an independent news source originally reporting on the conflict in Darfur. Ten years after its birth, Dabanga’s unique position and vast in-country network allows the journalists to remotely gather and publish news about every corner of Sudan.

Radio programmes are broadcast via shortwave and satellite TV in Arabic to Sudan to 3.3 million daily listeners. Over the past 10 years, Radio Dabanga has been supported operationally by Free Press Unlimited.
