Research Technology Compliance Specialist

We are seeking to fill the position of Research Technology Compliance Specialist in the Research Services department within the Information Technology Services (ITS) organization, (the central IT provider across campus) This is an opportunity to work in a supportive, exciting, and mission-focused group dedicated to supporting research computing at the University of Iowa, a comprehensive Research 1 institution.
The successful candidate in this position will be responsible for acting as a single point of contact for answering research technology compliance and data management questions across the campus. This person will not only engage with faculty but will also act as a bridge across different areas of expertise to help researchers navigate the compliance questions related to their work.
A key component of this position will be researching and communicating compliance guidance to both researchers and IT staff while also helping to advocate for the needs of research on campus. A strong customer focus and an outgoing and positive personality is required to be successful in the role as well as the ability to communicate to technical and non-technical audiences.
This individual will sit on the Institutional Review Board and provide IT-specific guidance and consulting to both researchers and IRB staff.
Transparency, inclusion, and open communication are highly valued in the team. The person hired reports to the Sr. Director for Research Services and works within the Research Services Campus Engagement Team.

Software Engineering Associate/Specialist

The X-ray Science Division (XSD) of Argonne National Laboratory enables world-class research using x-rays by developing cutting edge X-ray instrumentation and techniques, and pursuing research in the physical, chemical, environmental, and materials sciences. To accomplish this mission, XSD fully operates 43 beamlines and is a partner in the operation of three more beamlines at the Advanced Photon Source (APS). We are currently seeking to fill 2 Software Engineering positions.
Today, the APS collects approximately 10 PB of raw experimental data per year from approximately 100 sophisticated instruments performing work in a variety of scientific domains. Over the coming decade, the APS anticipates this annual data volume will increase by multiple orders-of-magnitude. This is an exciting opportunity to be at the forefront of solving data and computing solutions needed to answer pressing scientific questions that face the nation today.
The Software Engineering Associate/Specialist will be a part of a team developing the strategic direction for facility-wide data architectures and engage in hands-on activities related to the design, development, maintenance, and support of data management solutions for scientific instruments at the APS. The position works collaboratively with, or under direction of staff, scientists, and external collaborators to deliver solutions. Work may involve the development of computational techniques and software development for scientific data management, processing, and visualization, and utilize high-performance computing platforms.
