DUTIES SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Supervising Office Assistant, the primary responsibilities of the Office Assistant II include servicing the primary reception counter and telephone lines for the Branch, maintaining a variety of filing systems including electronic file documents, providing photocopy, mail and delivery services for Branch staff, providing general clerical duties involving typing and data entry, and assisting senior clerks in a variety of other clerical tasks in support of the Rental Assistance Program.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: A combination of education and experience substantially equivalent to graduation from high school, including or supplemented by course work in typing, and one year of clerical experience which shall have included some typing.

KNOWLEDGE OF: office practices and procedures; filing methods and systems; grammar, spelling and word usage; the purposes and uses of standard office machines.

ABILITY TO: Type at the rate of 40 net words per minute; make arithmetic computations; compare names and numbers accurately; keep records, summarize materials and prepare simple reports; operate standard office machines and equipment; understand and interpret laws, ordinances, rules, regulations and policies pertinent to the department; follow oral and written instructions; deal tactfully and effectively with the public; work harmoniously with others.

The position will assist in mail distribution, pick-up and deliveries, move boxed files to and from storage, locate and cull files for shredding, perform data entry tasks, and other duties as assigned.



If the selected individual has a driver’s license, may be asked to drive a vehicle to deliver mail to branch offices, administration, fiscal offices, and other City offices.



Individual should have the ability to lift 20 pounds.

Transport clients appropriately to resources they require in the community.

Youth can be referred by various referral sources and the length of stay in the emergency shelter is anywhere from 1 day to 30+ days, while youth await return home or another more permanent placement.

Youth Counselors need to be able to manage crisis situations appropriately and help youth work through issues they are experiencing. They need to provide a stable, safe, structured, and nurturing environment, that encourages youth to participate in a program structure that includes: chores, meals, bedtime, quiet time, study time, meetings, and participation in planned activities and outings. Youth Counselors also need to spend time discussing issues with youth to assist and support them in their emotional processing, encourage adaptive positive coping skill-building and solidify/set limits.

Schedule: Youth Counselors are required to work one weekend shift per week and will work with the Program Manager to determine their schedules based on the following shifts:

Swing shifts: Mon-Fri 2:30pm-10:30pm
Overnight Awake shift: Mon - Thurs 10:00pm-8:00am; Sun & Sat: 10:30pm-8:30am
Weekend shift: 8:30am - 10:30pm (
Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED
Experience or training in working with youth who have been abused and/or neglected is highly preferred
Experience working with youth who have been involved in sex trafficking is highly preferred
Requirements:

A valid driver’s license
