Behavioral Core Manager
University of Pittsburgh
The Preclinical Phenotyping Core Facility (PPC), is seeking a qualified candidate as the Behavioral Core Manager position. The PPC is a centralized behavioral phenotyping core with state-of-the-art behavioral testing equipment for the characterization of rodent models across domains of cognitive, motor, exploratory, nociceptive, neuropsychiatric, neurodegenerative, neurodevelopmental, and aging phenotypes. The PPC Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the core including laboratory operations, experimental support for core assays, and training of research staff to conduct experiments in rodent behavioral phenotyping and data analysis. The applicant requires expertise in behavioral phenotyping of rodent models, experience with specialized phenotyping equipment and software, data analysis, and interpretation. The applicant will ideally have experience with experimental design and development for conducting rigorous behavioral phenotyping and therapeutic intervention studies. Experience with stereotaxic surgery, EEG, and mouse colony management would be a significant advantage for the candidate. BS + 6 years experience or MS/PhD + 2 years experience required.
Behavioral Research Specialist
University of Pittsburgh
The Behavioral Research Specialist positions will support behavioral characterization of rodent and marmoset models of aging and Alzheimer's disease as part of a vibrant research laboratory and large multi-disciplinary, multi-institutional NIA funded consortiums. The incumbent has a functional understanding of neurobehavioral phenotyping and experience conducting phenotypic assessments and cognitive task training in animal models. The incumbent is capable of assisting in experimental design; independently executing experiments with minimal supervision; data collection and analysis; animal use and care; maintenance of equipment and software and training of staff and colleagues. Position requires incumbent to possess a high level of independence for operational responsibility and flexibility to respond to changes in phenotyping paradigms, technologies, and animal models.
