Systems modeller
United kingdom Atomic Energy Authority
The Power Plant Technology Group at UKAEA are seeking a Systems Modeller to join our team and evaluate potential fusion power plant designs focusing on STEP (Spherical Tokamak for Energy Production).

The PROCESS systems code is the lead European systems code which is heavily used to design STEP, and the proposed European Demonstration Power Plant (EUROfusion-DEMO). It combines a set of simple 0D/1D models of all significant systems of a fusion power plant with a constrained optimisation solver to answer questions like, “What is the smallest fusion power plant that provides a certain amount of electricity to the grid?” PROCESS can be used on a variety of concepts including conventional/spherical tokamaks, stellarators and inertial fusion devices. It also incorporates a cost model for socioeconomic studies.
