Michigan Language Assessment seeks an experienced assessment professional to lead a team of internal and external colleagues in the design, development, and delivery of innovative assessments that help learners in the US and elsewhere in their English language learning journey. Drawing on your experience and expertise, you will work out efficient content development processes; manage and mentor writers who produce test items and other educational content, and also contribute to the writing and editing of these materials.
The Assessment Manager will ensure that the production, quality, and processes for specialized tests, products, and services meet or exceed expectations, and that our organization’s position as a leading provider of English language assessments and services is enhanced.
Responsibilities:
Drawing upon professional knowledge, lead, manage, and contribute to the creation of test content and related materials (creation and maintenance of test specifications and documentation; make item writing assignments according to needs; provide item expert content reviews; construct tests; develop training and support materials).
Lead and/or assist groups for development of new tests.
Lead in liaising with/presenting to internal and external stakeholders for the design, development, and delivery of assessment products and other educational material.
Manage the assessment team by providing supervision and by continually building and enhancing communication, teamwork, professional development, and core skills among the team.
Manage recruitment, training, and coordination of item writers, examiners and raters.
Contribute in other ways (e.g. serve on hiring committees; research) and to innovation commensurate to level and experience as may be required.
As a member of the management team, contribute to the planning, implementation and evaluation of the long-term strategic business plan, including budgeting and resource management.

Leverage new technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), in order to improve generation and security of content. Make recommendations on future products and services to ensure that customers’ needs and expectations are exceeded, and that the organization’s strategic objectives are achieved.
The Assistant Director of Assessment manages divisional and project-specific budgets, allocates and manages staff resources, maintains appropriate documentation, implements quality assurance systems, and ensures the timely delivery of all assessment content.

Senior Researcher: Data Scientist for Language Assessment & Learning

Conference & Events Project Manager (Assessment Research Group)
