Marine Mammal Trainer (All Levels)
Dolphins Plus Marine Mammal Responder
Dolphins Plus Marine Mammal Responder (DPMMR) is looking to add a marine mammal trainer to their Animal Care & Training team to help care for their pod of 7 Common bottlenose dolphins. DPMMR is a non-profit, dolphin interaction and rescue facility located in the Florida Keys. Marine Mammal Trainers are responsible for the daily husbandry and training of the dolphins, facilitating interaction programs and tours with the general public, maintaining habitats and animal care support areas, and assisting with special projects as assigned.
 
About Dolphins Plus Marine Mammal Responder: DPMMR’s mission is to connect people with dolphins in hopes they will help protect marine mammals. To achieve this, DPMMR focuses on four pillars of their mission: Animal Welfare, Education & Outreach, Scientific Investigation, and Rescue & Rehabilitation. DPMMR is currently developing The Protect Center - a marine mammal hospital to support dolphin rehabilitation efforts in the Florida Keys.

Mote Aquarium
Aquarium Biologist III should have 3 plus years experience in a zoo or aquarium with mentor and leadership experience preferred. Species in our care currently include manatees, river otters, sea turtles, alligator, roseate spoonbill, white ibis, gopher tortoise, Eastern indigo snake, and a variety of tropical fish and shark species. Future exhibit for our new aquarium being built, expected opening date estimated early 2025, will have Humboldt penguins which are new to our care. Therefore penguin experience is preferred, but willingness to work with all of our species is required. Pinniped Trainer II / Senior Trainer
New England Aquarium
This opening is for a Pinniped Trainer Level 2 or Senior Trainer. The Trainer provides for the care of the marine mammal colony and related facilities in line with AZA, USDA and New England Aquarium standards of animal husbandry. The Pinniped Trainer should demonstrate a clear understanding of how to position around the animals safely and provide support for coworkers during animal interactions. Duties will include: delivering scripted presentations with an animal, conducting Behind-the-Scenes tours and Meet and Greets and providing question and answer sessions for aquarium visitors at the Marine Mammal Center and Atlantic Harbor Seal Exhibits. The Senior trainer will also lead staff during training sessions, animal shifts, and animal emergencies in a constructive manner, train and maintain complex behaviors and manage medical intervention when needed.

This is a full-time regular position offering a comprehensive benefits package. The schedule is currently scheduled as four, ten-hour days, including one weekend day. The typical hours are 7a - 6p EST with some flexibility on start and end times. Work must be conducted onsite.

Be a "people-person" who enjoys working with the public.

Be a team player with excellent organization, problem solving, and communication skills.

Must be physically fit and be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and pass a swim test.

Be confident, physically fit, and strong enough to help medically assist dolphins.

Prior experience with animal training may be beneficial but not required.
