Research Lead
USC/ISI
USC/ISI is establishing the Center for Intelligent Computing and Electronics (CInCE) and is looking for a leader who will help us revolutionize the world by changing the way systems make decisions through new computing architectures and electronics. The Center's multidisciplinary research team will develop radically novel architectures that will dramatically accelerate the process of turning raw data into knowledge and informed action—from interaction with the external world to inference to learning. Imagine developing the architectures that will enable systems to learn on the fly, adapt to novelty, and navigate unanticipated situations! The research scope of CInCE will range from hardware devices, circuits, chips, and systems to system software, programming environments, and applications—all driven specifically by cognitive processing. CInCE will take a data- and mission-driven approach that encompasses creative clean-slate designs while considering practical engineering issues. It will leverage existing ISI strengths in circuit and digital design, architecture, chip fabrication, system software, heterogeneous computing, and machine learning.

USC/ISI is seeking an experienced researcher to lead or co-lead CInCE. The ideal candidate will be a computer architect with interests that span from devices and circuits to system software and machine learning. The ideal candidate will have a track record as a principal investigator, research team leader, and strong collaborator, with a background that includes a compelling publication record and the ability to obtain external funding and define research programs. However, we will consider less experienced candidates who have demonstrated exceptional potential. USC/ISI has research offices and labs located in Marina del Rey, CA, Arlington, VA, and Waltham, MA.
