Senior Veterinarian
The London Cat Clinic The London Cat Clinic is very definitely independent, purpose-built, and provide Gold Standard care for our patients. We celebrated our 7th birthday in May 2024 and with an ever i... ncreasing number of patients and dedicated owners to work with there is an interesting and varied caseload which is a mixture of first opinion work, a significant number of interesting and challenging second opinions and referrals. We have the only feline-specific ophthalmology service in the UK (provided by the wonderful Dr Ursula Dietrich who is lecturing at ISFM Malta!) and Dr Rob Davis who provides a full dentistry service including root canals.
We are looking for a friendly, professional and experienced Veterinarian with excellent clinical skills but of equal importance is a team player who understands and believes in our values of Committed, Accountable, Trusted and Striving for Excellence (CATS). If you have a post-graduate qualification in feline or small animal medicine or are studying towards one that's great. If you haven't started on one yet we are going to support you to do that. If you have experience with an ultrasound probe and know your way around a cat’s abdomen, this would be great, but this isn’t essential, and we'll train you with this as well.
A love of felines is essential and we want colleagues to join us who are passionate about what you do and will treat our patients, team members and owners with the same care and attention that you yourself would like to be treated.
We want to support you to be the vet you want to be to further your skills and expertise. You will be working on average 4 days per week at 40hrs, a work-life balance is really important so we are flexible about how this works. There is no out-of-hours work.
First Opinion Vet in an established INDEPENDENT Cat Only Clinic
The Oxford Cat Clinic WE are a busy 2-site independent practice in Oxford providing first opinion and referral care to cats within Oxford and the local area. IF you are "Cat-curious" or already a ve... t with "Cattitude" this role offers a unique opportunity to be immersed in all things cat with a great team of experts in the field.
ROLE: 30-40 hours per week (10 hour days, paid lunch break) One in 4 duty weekends (10 hours of consulting spread over 2 days) No out-of-hours on-call Duty rota back-up for late checks for stable in-patients, 1 check per week plus your working weekends. Salary £40,000 - £60,000 + commensurate with experience. Sponsorship available for the right candidate.
CANDIDATE requirements: At least 2-3 years UK RCVS registration with in-practice experience A proven track record in routine surgeries associated with first-opinion GP work Sole charge experience essential You will be required to work at both our clinic sites - both close to Oxford City centre. Dental procedure competency is necessary. Dental x-ray and local blocks can be taught. More advanced soft-tissue surgical experience would be an advantage but not essential A supportive and friendly team mentality is essential Driving licence and access to a car Good English language skills - written and spoken
Vets work at their best when there is good case communication, team support and a sensible workflow, so we make this happen. 20-minute consultations are standard with regular daily gaps for admin and lab reporting. Lunch breaks and finish times are respected.
Our Feline Internal Medicine Referral service is headed up by Martha Cannon, RCVS Specialist, Lauren Demos, American Diplomate, and two Advanced Practitioners. The two teams work closely allowing First Opinion clinicians to refer internally and informally learn from the referral expertise around them in ward rounds, case conversations, and internal CPD
