ART has established a new long-term research program to assist state agencies with evaluating, understanding, and undertaking its transportation research needs toward improving and modernizing intelligent transportation systems (ITS). As a result, C2SMART will undertake several projects in coordination with its agencies, vendors, engineering firms and consultants, and other research partners. This position will be responsible for overseeing and managing the various projects while fulfilling all sponsor requests and needs for successful execution of these projects. They will coordinate across all of the faculty, students, and staff leading the principal technical research under these projects, as well as a portfolio of new agency & industry partners that will be engaged on these projects. Lead a growing portfolio of research projects being conducted at the Center in the area of connected vehicles, intelligent transportation systems (ITS), and other big data analytics in support of emerging technologies and their applications to solve transportation/mobility challenges.
Broadly, the Research Associate will lead or support the following tasks:
1. Data analysis, modeling, statistical analysis of transportation systems and travelers, particularly within New York 2. Working with partners/sponsors in transportation engineering tasks such as administering surveys, recording and collecting data, participating in field tests, and deploying and testing new equipment such as sensors, V2V/I/X communication devices, or similar 3. Lead specific tasks that require creation and calibration of simulation models, development of performance measures, and studying and understanding trends and relationships from big datasets 4.
