Perform advanced session planning upon request of school district.
Provide skilled speech therapy treatment for students, both individually and in group settings, using evidence-based approaches. Complete session SOAP notes within 24 hours of treatment.
Maintain the flexibly to adapt/modify the treatment plan, intervention being utilized, and other professional areas in order to best provide an individualized therapy approach.
Proficiently and professionally document services rendered.
Confidently and accurately utilize data collection methods and tools for analysis of client performance. Participate in IEP meetings, review existing data, and form team meetings.
Communicate with families regarding services.
Serve as a case manager or process coordinator, and ensure appropriate delivery of the treatment plan, when applicable.
Discharge when appropriate.
Confidently and professionally counsel individuals and groups regarding cognitive-communication disorders and the educational impact and/or impact on quality of life.
Prepare professional quarterly progress report for schools.
Kansas School for the Deaf This position is part of a multidisciplinary outreach team that provides services and resources to support children who are deaf/hard of hearing (DHH). The LAP-DHH Specialist will... assess, monitor, and track the language developmental milestones of children from birth through age 8 who are DHH. In addition, the LAP-DHH Specialist will serve as an advocate by presenting and explaining assessment results, presenting all education options, and giving recommendations to local school districts, early intervention providers, and parents during IFSP, IEP, and transition from Part C to Part B meetings. This position will require travel throughout Kansas and may require overnight stays. Requires flexibility in working hours. Applicants do not need to live in the Kansas City metro area to be eligible for this job.
Additional duties may include providing consultant support and resources to families who have children who are DHH Ages 3-21 and the service providers who work with them. Duties may also include presenting at and participating in training and conferences. This position will support the outreach team in evaluations and observations.
