Consumer Advocate/Community Organizer - Bay Area, Central Valley, or Southern California

Health Access seeks an experienced community, coalition, and/or political organizer to lead our Bay Area, Central Valley, or Southern California advocacy activities, from organizing coalition meetings, delegation visits with policymakers, press conferences, town halls and other events to recruiting individual and organizational support for our goals. This position would represent the organization with partners, policymakers, press and the public to advance our agenda to expand care and coverage for all Californians, implement and improve health reform, protect health care consumers from unfair practices or inflated costs by insurers or providers, win investments in our health care safety-net and public health, and encourage a healthier California.

Strong communication and motivational skills, a work ethic, and passion for health care policy and politics are essential. Candidates must be able to work within a team, have proven leadership ability and experience handling a lot of responsibility. Strong self-direction and the ability to take initiative are also necessary qualifications. Two openings will be based in Oakland, the Central Valley, or Southern California, and will be directly supervised by our Organizing Director. Travel is required.

Specific responsibilities include:

Develop, implement and monitor strategies to carry out advocacy campaigns, build a large coalition partner network to support a broader regional and statewide advocacy agenda.
Coordinate regional health coalitions, including maintain relationships with key members and inform them of developments in Sacramento and Washington, DC.
Organize press conferences, actions, and events to support statewide issue campaigns.
Serve as a regional spokesperson for the organization, including giving presentations to groups, and testimony at public hearings.
Be current with federal, state, and county policies regarding health care.
Foster relationships with elected officials and key stakeholders.

Institutional Relationship Manager

The Institutional Relationship Manager will be responsible for engaging with employers throughout the state in order to educate them on the CalSavers Retirement Savings Program (SSRP) Plan, and help them register for and facilitate the program. Working through the employers, the Institutional Relationship Manager will also help employees understand the importance of saving for retirement and the benefits of the CalSavers Retirement Savings Program. The position will be home-based in CA; however, occasional evening and weekend (including overnight) travel throughout the designated region is required.

Community Outreach and Girl Recruitment Specialist

The Community Outreach & Girl Recruitment Specialist is responsible to meet a new girl goal. This is done by developing and implementing a strategic marketing plan specific to assigned regions. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and implement a comprehensive plan for girl and adult membership growth in targeted areas by researching market data, membership trends and other pertinent information relevant to designated geographic areas
Implement membership recruitment marketing strategies outlined in the council’s strategic plan including cultivating and organizing communities to result in increased girl and volunteer leads
Increase membership by identifying resources, forming partnerships with community groups and businesses and faith-based institutions; planning and implementing activities which offer the opportunity to enhance visibility; and, making presentations to promote awareness of Girl Scouting and its value
Ensure timely, thorough and accurate recording of job-appropriate data in database
Use data effectively to improve their ability and the Council’s ability to achieve results and measure outcomes
Recruit and engage volunteers to assist with recruitment efforts
Host recruitment events within assigned area
Recruit to fill openings in the troop opportunity catalog in Volunteer Systems

Community Outreach Specialist
Girl Scouts Heart of Central California
POSITION SUMMARY
As part of the Strategic and Community Partnerships department, the Community Outreach Specialist will increase membership in underserved communities by 1) forming, growing and supporting troops led by after-school program staff and 2) developing new forms of program delivery to expand participation options for girls and families throughout the council (e.g., individually registered girls, super troops, virtual troops, etc.).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct research on partner leads and growth opportunities.
Conduct presentations for potential school- and community-based partners to develop and maintain a steady flow of referrals and opportunities.
Maintain partnerships with Title One after-school providers to deliver Girl Scouts content in academic year after-school and summer school settings.
Provide ongoing training to after-school providers to deliver Girl Scouts programming.
Table at relevant school- and community-based events, volunteer job fairs, etc. to raise awareness about the benefits of Girl Scouts community-based programming.
Maintain accurate recordkeeping, contacts, analysis and reporting to improve efficiency, maintain historical record of all program-related activities and partner stewardship.
Work with existing partners to provide fresh and relevant curriculum to meet the needs of girls.
Partner with GIRL Experience teams to provide additional council-sponsored participation opportunities for girls in after-school programs.
Partner with Recruitment and GIRL Experience teams to enhance program portfolio options by piloting and rolling out new participation options with a focus on growing membership. Special emphasis placed on serving traditionally underserved populations.
Use Salesforce to track partnership membership activity and develop strategic recruitment plans.
Conduct regular business reviews to ensure high client satisfaction and increase partner retention rates.
