Social Change Research Internship

As an intern on the research team at Mercy For Animals, you will gain invaluable experience and participate in the following:

- Honing your research skills to co-lead a consumer research project exploring consumer perceptions of the role animal-product alternatives play in their diets (replacement, novel food experience, addition, etc.) and the bases of these perceptions. Research will include literature reviews, surveys, and possibly focus groups.

On the first, you will evaluate grant opportunities, manage relationships with grantees, and handle logistics for our annual donations to support non profits working to reduce animal suffering and end factory farming. We are one of the top eight funders (in grant dollars) of farmed animal work globally. On the second, you will do research and help execute on emergent projects or ideas that come up in the course of our work.

Previous examples of this emergent and opportunistic work include - identifying political efforts as a white space and organizing a research project that has led to a new 501(c)(4) / PAC being launched, sourcing senior talent for movement-related organizations, building better communications practices for increasing philanthropic contributions to the movement, operational support for new initiatives, offering meditation retreats for animal advocates in multiple languages and countries, etc. This role will flex to match the interest, skillset, and individuality of the person in it. We would expect the role to evolve over time towards the direction of growth of this person.

The primary responsibilities of the Philanthropy Manager are:
