Speech Therapist

KidsPeace National Centers of New England has an opening for a Speech Therapist to work at its Old Town School. This position will be in a special purpose, private school setting, Monday to Friday with daytime hours. The Speech Therapist provides direct and consultative services as mandated by students I.E.P. and provides in-service education trainings for staff members upon request. This position will also attend P.E.T.'s as requested, write I.E.P. goals based on assessments and individual needs. Will provide three-month summaries and problem areas for inclusion in children's service plans two weeks prior to the children's service team meetings. On-site duties will include, but are not limited to: assessments, classroom collaboration, record review, group and individual therapy. Services shall be performed in accordance with the requirements of State and National accrediting and licensing bodies, and shall be consistent with sound and established principles of care.

The ideal candidate would communicate effectively, demonstrate teamwork, exhibit analytical and problem solving skills, as well as being able to work independently.

Master’s Degree and a State of Maine License in Speech Therapy/Pathology is required.

Performs short-term instruction in small groups and on a one-to-one basis under direct supervision of the teacher. Introduces new learning preplanned in consultation with the classroom teacher. Supervises small groups of students. Documents daily student behaviors and helps with daily classroom management. Performs morning routine with children before the school day.

Requirements:

Education Technician I, high school diploma, starting rate $15.00/hr (increased with experience)

Education Technician II, 60 college credits, starting rate $15.25/hr (increased with experience)

Education Technician III, 90+ college credits, starting rate $15.50/hr (increased with experience)

**SIGN-ON BONUS: $250 for part-time employees, $500 for full-time employees!**

Lead Education Technician III

KidsPeace National Centers of New England has an immediate opening for a Lead Education Technician III to work at its Millinocket School. The Lead Education Technician III provides support, suggestions and guidance to the education staff in crisis prevention. This position also provides crisis intervention to clients, completes related reporting and record keeping.

This position requires the ability to lead, communicate and multitask, while possessing an unwavering commitment to compliance and the ability to continuously assess and manage ongoing developments and concerns of client care. As well as, having the ability to initiate action, make sound judgments and motivate staff. Recognize and take appropriate action in response to unsafe situations; demonstrate knowledge and use of emergency response systems and tolls. In addition, this position would require the ability to fully perform all aspects of a restraint using the current approved KidsPeace methodology.

An Ed Tech III Certification is required in addition to two years of experience working with behaviorally challenged children (preferably in a residential setting). Experience working closely with family and clients as well as an understanding of autism spectrum disorders in preferred.
