Mid-Atlantic Latinx Vaccine Equity Coalition (MALVEC) – Community Health Organizer (CHO)

For Montgomery County and Prince Georges, Maryland, United States

MALVEC seeks four Community Health Organizers (CHO) to serve as a connector between community members and health services to reduce disproportionate COVID-19 health impacts in the Latinx community. The CHW will accompany, inform, educate, and empower community members to navigate health systems to protect their health and the health of their families. The CHW will work with families within a holistic health equity framework. For this project, the CHW will focus their activities on COVID-19 prevention and education.

As part of the MALVEC philosophy, CHWs will receive introductory and continuous training in Digital Organizing, COVID-19, and specific Community Mobilization Techniques for Health.
Job duration: This position is initially funded for four months (2021-2022) with the potential of being extended into 2022 dependent on the extension of the grant.

Locations: MLU Headquarters are in Baltimore, but we are seeking someone to fill our vacancy covering Montgomery County and Prince Georges. The position is primarily remote but includes some regional travel within the two counties. Maryland Latinos Unidos is headquartered in Baltimore City.

How you can help build a healthier Maryland:
• Participate as a member of the Mid-Atlantic Vaccine Equity Coalition (MALVEC) to assess and respond to community members’ needs related to COVID-19 prevention.
• Establish relationships with community members and their families acting as health educators and communication facilitators between community members and health systems.
• Apply digital tools to engage, mobilize, and encourage people to get vaccinated and enhances MALVEC partners’ digital reach.
• Assess vaccination deserts, canvass neighborhoods and events where community members gather to inform and educate them of upcoming
Grant Writer

The Grant Writer is an integral member of the Development Department and is involved in tasks related to both pre-award and post-award processes for grants and to creating responses to requests for proposals (RFPs). The Grant Writer may collaborate on special projects assigned to the Development team. In the pre-award phase of the grant cycle, the Grant Writer will have a role in prospecting for funding opportunities aligned with the organization’s mission and strategic plans to support and enhance programs. The Chief Program Officer (CPO) is a critical member of the leadership team. In collaboration with the CEO, the CPO will articulate and implement the strategic vision and leadership of the agency; lead and oversee direct programming of Adoptions Together, to include counseling, training, home study, foster care adoption, domestic infant adoption, and family find services. The CPO will be a subject matter expert in areas that create and sustain permanency including adoption, foster, kinship, and guardianship care and have a sound foundation and understanding of the impact of pre-and post-natal trauma, attachment disruption, trauma-responsive care, and the clinical models that best respond to the needs of this population. The CPO will work with the CEO to establish new programs consistent with the organization's mission, vision, and values.
Leadership & Staff Management. In coordination with the CEO and executive leadership team, play a key role in the overall development, strategic planning, service delivery, and management of the organization. Supervise program leaders; working closely with them to build their skills and confidence so they can mentor, encourage, and motivate all staff. Experience with, or a desire and ability to develop skills around fundraising and development as well as working with a board of directors. This position is a possible successor for the CEO within 3 to 5 years.
Program Oversight. Oversee the coordination, integration, and delivery of all programs, contracts, and related services, promoting collaborative relationships between program areas and ensuring that the expectations of funders, partners, constituents, clients, and other stakeholders are consistently met and effectively communicated.
Business Development. In partnership with the CEO and in accordance with the strategic plan, develop and implement new initiatives that reflect the organization's mission. Monitor emerging needs and serve as liaison to key agencies and organizations
