Family Engagement Liaison

The Greater Commonwealth Virtual School, a fully online public school of choice, serves students from

We are seeking a Middle School (Grades 6-8) Guidance Counselor to assist with our growing student
population. This is a fully remote position with obligations to attend in-person events as needed.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
Duties/Responsibilities:
● Review transcripts and other academic documentation for new and returning students.
● Working collaboratively with Middle School teaching staff to develop learning and success plans
for students.
● Developing data-driven programs for intervention as part of the MTSS process.
● Providing responsive services to individuals or groups on academic and personal issues.
● Assisting students in the acquisition of study skills.
● Providing a support system that strengthens the efforts of teachers, staff, and parents.
● Supporting state standardized testing programs; parent education; and staff development.
● Providing academic counseling to challenge and enrich student learning.
● Enroll and monitor students in the Middle School live and asynchronous (Flex) program.
● Participate in appropriate faculty and team meetings.
● Participate in school-wide student meetups and other events as assigned.
● Interact with students and teachers in a myriad of situations including classrooms, meetups,
video conferencing, face-to-face work, and communication by technology.
● Other duties as assigned by the administration.
Special Education Teacher providing Substantially Separate Support
Greater Commonwealth Virtual School (Public School in MA)
● Responsible for working collaboratively with other Special Education teachers, General Education Teachers, and all other service providers in an Inclusive Practice model.
● Provide direct services, as needed, to students with specific needs on your caseload
● Follow up with related service providers, special education teachers, and general education teachers to confirm that IEP, attendance, reports, and services are being completed
● Meet with Special Education families on caseload and their general and special education teacher(s)
● Keep notes on conversations about students and maintain a service log for all students
● Schedule IEP meetings online, and follow up on attendees, write IEP goals and objectives, obtain present levels/baselines using informal assessments
● Follow up with parental or teacher concerns
● Work closely with Evaluation Team Leader and Special Education Director on student/family concerns and issues
● Update Special Education files in ESPED with Specific Goals, benchmarks, accommodations, modifications for presentation and setting, dates, and other needed information
● Completing MCAS Testing and MCAS ALT Portfolios with students as necessary
● Attend all Special Education staff meetings, grade-level team meetings, and GCVSprofessional development meetings
● Complete IEP Progress Reports and Goal tracking form for each student quarterly
● Respond as soon as possible but no later than 48 hours to parent, student, teacher, and admin inquiries via phone and/or e-mail during the regular workweek
● Complete all required “paperwork” in a timely manner
● Independently Advocate right away when given training and guidance as you acclimate to the virtual setting if help is needed

School Adjustment Counselor
Greater Commonwealth Virtual School (Public School in MA)
● Provide ongoing consultation to teachers and staff regarding teaching students with diverse learning
needs
● Provide counseling services to students to address issues that are interfering with learning
● Conduct occasional psychological inventories and write thorough evaluation reports
● including educationally relevant findings and recommendations.
● Conduct screenings as requested through General Education Team processes and IEP Team processes.
● Crisis intervention . Participate as needed in MTSS Teams, Grade level teams, IEP Teams, be an active member
of a School Wide Wellness initiative.
● Author relevant sections of IEPs and 504 plans
● Write quarterly progress reports for IEP students
● Documentation of services provided
● Work closely with Evaluation Team Leader and Special Education Director and Assistant , Director on
student/family concerns and issues
● Test students as necessary during state testing - does involve reimbursed travel
● Attend all GCVS professional development workshops (on a prorated basis);
● Occasional home visits to families with comprehensive medical and/or mental health needs.
● Develop and lead K-12 social skills groups year-round.
● Attend multiple IEP Team meetings per week, sometimes multiple at a time.
K-5 Special Education Teacher
