Senior Major & Planned Gifts Officer

The Job:
Secure major gifts from individual donors, including unrestricted annual gifts, designated gifts for specific projects and programs, and planned gifts by managing a portfolio of high profile, high-capacity donors. This position is responsible for identifying, qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donor prospects and closing major annual gifts and planned gifts. Plans, implements and evaluates a comprehensive planned giving strategy for Mia. Act as a key ambassador through personal contact with donors and prospects.

In this role, you will….

· Manage a portfolio of 75 – 100+ major and planned gift prospects to secure funding and meet annual fundraising goals for unrestricted, restricted, and planned gifts from individuals. Annual goals are typically $1 – 2 million.

· Create and execute an individual plan for each donor so individuals are retained and upgraded, with a focus on one-on-one meetings to establish and strengthen donor relationships for long term support.

· Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive planned giving program that aligns with Mia’s fundraising goals.

· Work collaboratively with colleagues across departments on donor strategies and maintaining timely and accurate reports to leverage optimal fundraising opportunities.

· Produce or assist with documents, calculations, proposals, endowment agreements and other materials as needed by prospects, donors and advisors.

· Maintain an active, current body of knowledge of Mia and its mission, programs, activities, institutional needs, and fundraising priorities as well as planned giving trends and vehicles.

· Communicate and report on activities to department team and other key staff.

Development Officer
College of Liberal Arts, University of Minnesota
The Development Officer will work with alumni, friends, foundations, and corporations to determine their philanthropic interests, and solicit and close appropriate gifts in support of the fundraising priorities of the College of Liberal Arts and the University of Minnesota.
Duties:
1) Major Gifts Development (85%)
-Build and maintain a portfolio of major gift prospects (approximately 125), to ensure that timely steps are taken toward solicitation, closure, and stewardship of gifts at $50,000 or greater.
-Initiate and oversee the development of proposals and written material in support of specific major gift fundraising initiatives. Utilize various giving methods such as current, deferred giving, and non-cash gifts.
2) Serve as a member of the Office of Institutional Advancement team: (10%)
-Assist development leadership with major donor/principal gift strategies and special projects as requested.
-Participate fully in the planning and ongoing operations of the development, annual giving and alumni relations office. Serve as liaison to annual giving, and regional/planned giving/LAG partners from the University of Minnesota Foundation.
3) Other duties and meeting responsibilities as assigned (5%).
-This position requires some travel along with evening and weekend work at various University and CLA functions, as necessary.

Director of Development or Senior Director of Development
Saint Mary's University of Minnesota
Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota is seeking a Director of Development or Senior Director of Development to be a results-driven major gifts fundraiser to secure philanthropic investment to support the University. This position will manage a portfolio of qualified major gift prospects by building relationships leading to timely cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. The selected candidate can be based out of the Twin Cities (Minneapolis), Rochester, Winona, or the Chicago area.
The Director of Development will be responsible for meeting explicit performance objectives
regarding donors qualified for gifts of $50,000 and above. The Senior Director of Development
will be responsible for donors qualified for gifts of $100,000 and above.
• Complete 200 personal face-to-face visits per year, of meaningful, strategic, personal interactions with assigned prospects.
• Manage a major gift portfolio of prospects including identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of major outright and planned gifts and travel as needed in fulfillment of these duties.
• Coordinate cultivation activities and solicitations with other University representatives, as appropriate, including the president, senior staff, advancement professionals, key faculty, and volunteers.
• Maintain strategic cultivation plans for a focus group of assigned prospects who are scheduled for solicitation within the coming 12-18-month period. Plans will project gift amount, area of benefactor passion to support, as well as a step by step plan for cultivation with a cultivation schedule.
• Provide timely, written reports regarding the outcome of cultivation and solicitation actions in the form of contact reports, stage updates, and strategy statement updates and revisions within Raisers Edge NXT.
