Job Summary

Essential Functios
Develops, implements, plans, schedules, monitors, and supervises large and complex department-specific programs;
Monitors compliance with regulations, policies, and procedures as they relate to specific programs; 
Monitors performance of assigned staff relative to the program;
Prepares relevant correspondence and reports;
Liaisons with local, regional, and state organizations related to the program;
Performs fiscal planning and management for the assigned program and monitors grant allocations;
Responsible for the development, implementation and supervision of youth and adult recreation classes and special events that may include aquatics, theater, sports, health and wellness; and special events in the County.
Must determine program needs; plan; recruit, hire and train staff to instruct or direct the programs; and ensure that programs are self-supporting.
Promotes and publicizes programs, coordinates and schedules facilities and develops a financial accountability system.
Coordinates approximately 75 to 100 youth and adult recreation classes, programs, activities and special events annually. Performs other duties as assigned.
Assistant Director - Publick Playhouse

The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Prince George’s County, Department of Parks and Recreation, Arts and Cultural Heritage Division, is seeking an Assistant Director for the Publick Playhouse. The selected candidate assists in the daily operations of a 500 seat performing arts center. Manages facility operations, participates in planning, organizing and implementing community based cultural arts programs; provides marketing, public relations, box office, front of house and volunteer programs and services; issue tickets to events and participates in budget formulation.
Examples of Important Duties
Managing performance spaces, exhibit spaces, box office, ticket sales, cash handling, and concessions. Assists in managing the development and implementation of operational goals and procedures (e.g. hours, building security, safety).
Leads the marketing and public relation efforts for a wide variety of visual and performing arts programs, classes, special events, to meet the needs of a diverse community.
Assists with the development and management of program and event budgets. Assists the director with researching, planning and the implementation or events and activities to ensure access and engagement of diverse populations.
Participates in budget formulation as well as execution of the facility’s operating budget. Monitors and tracks expenditures for programs and project. Controls expenditures in accordance with approved budget. Prepare purchases requisitions and check requests. Collects and deposits revenues. Prepares and submits financial reports.
Hires and supervises designated staff who perform a variety of administrative, customer service, hospitality, custodial and instructional duties to ensure proper delivery of services.

Conducts program assessments to ensure programs are operating effectively;
Implements and enforces policies and procedures governing the administration of various County administered programs;
Acts as a liaison between Federal, State, and local governmental agencies whose policies, laws, regulations, and directives impact upon departmental and County activities, operations, projects, and programs;
Collaborates with other departments and various agencies to enhance service delivery;
Analyzes technical performance reports, correspondence, and contracts; reviews, evaluates, and makes recommendations regarding areas of responsibility;
Provides budget  recommendations based upon approved programs, resource parameters, technological enhancements, and County policies and procedures;
Ensures that the department is operating in compliance with Federal, State, and local regulatory agencies with regard to safety rules and regulations; 
Increases professional knowledge through attending workshops and conferences, participating in professional associations and activities, and reading professional and local publications;

Museum Facility Manager
City of Gaithersburg, Parks, Recreation & Culture
The City of Gaithersburg Department of Parks, Recreation & Culture is seeking an experienced museum professional to plan, direct, manage, and coordinate the administrative and operational functions of the City’s historic and astronomy-based sites which include the Latitude Observatory Park Historic Site and the Gaithersburg Community Museum and History Parks, located in the B&O Rail complex in Olde Towne.

The Museum fosters a connection to place by sharing the cultural history of Gaithersburg through programs, exhibitions, and hands-on learning centers for children that spark the imagination and desire to explore Gaithersburg’s rich history.

The preferred candidate has the vision and initiative to lead the transition from a traditional local history museum to a history center that explores and celebrates the City’s diverse and multilingual communities.

The Direct Support Professional (DSP) within our Day Services Department, will provide Community Development Services (CDS) and/or Day Habilitation Services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities within the community. Under the supervision of the Director of Day Services, a person in this position is responsible for the implementation and supervision of daily community engagement and integration relating to the persons interests and needs within the community. The programs engaged in include, but are not limited to, social programs, fitness programs, arts, sports, festivals, volunteer opportunities, and more. These experiences will support building positive community connections, socialization, life-long learning, healthy recreation and leisure choices, and personal development. This is a community-based position that will require staff to report to the home of the person supported, transport them throughout the day to community programs, and return them to home at the end of the program day.
