As such, the academic coach should enjoy working for and with a diverse array of people, is enthusiastic about the mission of the College, and exhibits superior customer service skills and professionalism in their daily interactions and communication with students and colleagues.

The academic coach serves as an academic mentor, coach, and advisor, who is focused on the success of his/her students. The Academic Coach partners with students throughout the life of their academic program, serving as students' primary source of support to ensure each student is making meaningful progress in their program. The Academic Coach works with his/her assigned students, helping them overcome any obstacles to learning and understand program expectations. The Academic Coach connects student to professional staff, faculty, or needed resources to ensure each and every student is receiving the support required for success.

The position is funded by the U.S. Department of Education for the College’s Pathways to Persistence and Success (P2PS) initiative. The P2PS program focuses on improving undergraduate student completion rates by transforming the student experience and investing in enhancing curriculum development and instruction. For the duration of the grant, the Academic Coach will report directly to the Title III Grant Activity Director and work closely with a team of advisors, coaches, faculty, and professional staff from other offices to ensure consistent delivery of academic planning and support services to students. The academic advisor/coach must be available to work a flexible schedule (including evenings and occasional weekends).
