University Academic Advisor (12 positions)
Academic Support Center - University at Albany
The Academic Support Center at the University at Albany is seeking innovative and student-centered academic advisors to support the University's new student success model. University Advisors are responsible for providing academic advisement to approximately 400 undergraduate students throughout their academic careers. This student-oriented position works closely with students to develop individual success strategies while collaborating closely with campus colleagues to identify potential academic roadblocks and engage in proactive problem solving to address those issues.

University Advisor responsibilities include:

*Serving as a primary advisor while the student is an intended major and then shifting to a secondary advisor role once the student declares into a major.

*At all times, these advisors will be responsible for monitoring academic progress, assessing TAP compliance (if applicable), and communicating with the student about university requirements.

*When declaring or changing majors, students will need to work with their university advisor to discuss the change, review the new degree requirements, and evaluate the impact on academic standing and trajectory implications.

*University advisors are responsible for coordinating a student's success team and proactively initiating intervention strategies when a student is in need of additional support or referral.

*Providing targeted and strategic interventions based on a unique understanding of the individual student in concert with at-risk assessment data.

*Approaching each student recognizing that they have a complex set of issues and concerns that will shape their academic pathway.

*Connecting with students on a regular basis to build and maintain rapport and serving as the first point of contact to ensure questions are answered and concerns are resolved.

*Collaboration with faculty and other University departments to enhance student success and coordinate support services.

Student Success Advisor
Husson University
The Student Success Advisor will work within The Center for Student Success. The advisor initiates advising interventions with students using a developmental and intrusive advising model to support the development and academic success of Husson students. The advisor will work with students to develop goals, explore academic options, and provide supportive feedback to students while communicating expectations, and facilitating the utilization of campus support services. This position will be responsible for providing support to Nursing and aspiring Nursing students.

• Serve as an Academic Advisor for a cohort of Husson students with a focus on undeclared students and students in their first years at Husson.
• Utilize a variety of advising techniques and modalities to provide support to students in transition or encountering academic and personal challenges.
• Collaborate with faculty and students to develop, implement and monitor remediation plans appropriate to the graduation requirements and expectations of a variety of academic programs.
• Keep accurate records and notes of student interactions and outcomes.
• Provide clear and accurate explanations of university policy and academic expectations across a variety of departments and fields.
• Develop and provide workshops to foster academic and personal development in areas such as academic reading, exam preparation, math and science competency, time-management, study skills, etc.
• Provide academic coaching to students identified as needing additional support by faculty.
• Teach in the Husson Experience course (HE 111) as needed.
• Collaborate with academic advisors in all of the University’s Schools/Colleges to coordinate student supports for at-risk students.
• Follow institutional guidelines on FERPA and confidentiality.
• Other duties as assigned.

This position is responsible for providing direct academic advising and support to students (online and face-to-face) through academic and early career planning, learning strategy support, graduation planning, and monitoring student progress toward degree.
