DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential duties of this position include but are not limited to the following performance measures:
Perform rural address issuance in accordance with 9-1-1 addressing standards and standard operating procedures; Collaborate with United States Postal Service (USPS), County Appraisal Districts (CADs), and elected/public officials for address issuance and correction; Assist citizens with 9-1-1 address verification and map requests; Provide technical assistance and/or support to applicants and/or assist with gathering data necessary to issue an address; Perform Address Point creation and ensure accuracy by referencing imagery and other data with GIS software; Monitor and update the 9-1-1 addressing system to ensure accuracy and reliability for contracted jurisdictions; Read and interpret maps, plats, and site plans; Maintain and update data sets within our online mapping platform; Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.
EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Graduation from an accredited two- or four-year college or university with major course work in geographic information systems, geography, computer science, computer information systems, geography, management information systems, or other related field is preferred. Equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for the position may be considered in lieu of degree.

Job Summary: The Economic Development Planner provides regional economic development planning services for a three-county Economic Development District, and collaborates cross-disciplinary projects for Region 1 Planning Council (R1), its clients and local government partners. The ideal candidate has 3 years of experience and is able to analyze the macroeconomic landscape of Northern Illinois, identify innovative strategies to move the region forward and articulate these regional economic challenges and opportunities in clear, compelling language. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, writing and verbal communication skills are required, as well as proficiency in macroeconomic research and data collection. Subject matter expertise or familiarity with broadband planning and concepts is desired.
