As a Park Ranger at the Walker River State Recreation Area, you'll be at the forefront of excitement and action, assisting the Park Supervisor in managing multiple units within the park. Your primary duty station will be the historic and stunning Flying M Ranch, 9 Mile Ranch, and The Elbow. You will be supervising a dynamic team of seasonal staff, managing a diverse range of natural and historical resources, and diving headfirst into both fieldwork and administrative duties. You will be working varied hours and shifts, braving the elements in true ranger fashion, and even serving as a State Park peace officer, handling everything from citations to emergency situations. You'll also have some hands-on work from grounds maintenance to custodial duties, fee collection to interpretive programs, and even minor facility repairs. You will be providing your expertise in land management, recreation, and administration to ensure the smooth operation of the park, making crucial decisions about resources, training, and facilities. Park residency is required in the provided housing at this duty location. The Park is located approximately 10 miles from Yerington, NV. Incumbents have the opportunity to progress to a Park Ranger II after one year.

This position is located at Walker River State Recreation Area in Yerington, Nevada and is primarily a field work position to assist the park with all conservation objectives. As team member for the Division, you will be presented with opportunities to explore, and work in, some of our beautiful parks. Position will work on projects geared toward park planning and recreation for visitor enjoyment. Actively work with other Conservation Staff and Park Staff with weed and other noxious vegetation removal, revegetation efforts, irrigation, mosquito abatement, and tree health, and park's overall conservation goals.
