Digital Media Coordinator

The Digital Media Coordinator position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced digital content creator and online community builder to join our small nonprofit team helping to position Ocean Exploration Trust (OET) as an innovator in ocean exploration, education, and outreach. The Digital Media Coordinator will work with Communications, Education, Video Production, and Science team members remotely located across the United States to develop and implement creative, engaging, and inclusive social media messaging and website content targeted for Nautilus Live audiences, including students, educators, scientists, and the general public follow the team and ship around the world.

This role requires a proactive self-starter with a strategic understanding of social media best practices and strong writing skills to envision and create innovative content, maintain the Nautilus Live voice across platforms, and increase our online community engagement. This is a remote, primarily shorebased position that may participate in OET expeditions on land or at-sea in a communications-focused role. This
is a one year position with possibility to extend pending grant funding.

CIRES Education and Outreach CLEAN Program and Communication Coordinator

DHP is the education and outreach group at the DISL, the marine research and education facility for the state. DHP educators develop and teach high quality on-site and off-site hands-on informal educational programs (field-based, in-school and virtual) about marine and coastal issues to K-12 students, teachers and the general public year-round. Off-site programs include overnight travel throughout the state as part of the BayMobile program as well as occasional outreach events. Educators also work on grant-funded projects, make presentations at national and state conferences, participate in professional development activities, develop web content/tools, and assist in evaluations of DHP programs. Primary job functions:
• Deliver established and assist in the development of new programs in coastal habitats (including large and small vessel trips and kayak trips) for outdoor field classes and outdoor activities to school-age children onsite at DISL
• Deliver established and assist in the development of new STEM hands-on classes for K-12 students onsite at DISL and across the state
• Deliver established and assist in the development of new marine science programs virtually and in schools across the state
• Participate in outreach efforts to students across Alabama and the general public across the Gulf coast
• Participate and collaborate in the development and implementation of grants to support educational programing and specific activities for K-12 students and educators

Coastal and Marine Education Program Specialist
North Carolina Sea Grant
Primary duties include:
* Assessing K-12 curriculum and non-formal education needs to inform product and program development.
* Developing education strategic plans that incorporate priorities for the Sea Grant program
* Developing, implementing, and evaluating coastal and marine environmental education programs for Sea Grant. Those include annual education program metrics submitted to the National Sea Grant office about educators engaged and students reached.
* Expanding coastal and marine-related education curriculum materials for K-12 audiences.
* Assisting Sea Grant extension and communication colleagues in developing K-12 products and by advising on the correlation of products to state and national academic standards

North Carolina Sea Grant has a strong tradition of providing science-based materials and training for a variety of educators to increase environmental literacy and workforce skills in our state.
