Head of School
Ascent Classical Academies
Young people can and should be educated to love learning and learn to love the knowledge, truths, and beautiful things that will habituate them to virtue so they can become good and flourishing human beings. Can you inspire teachers who can do this, model and communicate the historic, objective truths which will elevate the craft of those teachers, and represent such a school in word and deed to the school’s parents and community members?

Ascent Classical Academies seeks a headmaster to lead its new school in the Upstate area of South Carolina (Greenville/Spartanburg), opening Fall 2025. New schools present a formidable leadership challenge, requiring an entrepreneur’s spirit and energy. Extensive planning, organizing, marketing, and staffing by the headmaster are essential preparatory steps for a good school opening.

As the operations tempo increases with the first day of school, scores of daily decisions by the headmaster will ensue. Knowledge from the curriculum which supports development in the intellectual virtues will be complemented by instruction in the moral virtues.

The school leader must guide his or her campus and build it on the foundation of a solid understanding of the Western and American tradition and the associated Great Books and thinkers which illuminate this underlying philosophy and establish and guide the cultural vision for the school. Being the founding leader of a new school is challenging while also extremely rewarding.

Does this describe you and your own traditional educational beliefs and capabilities? If so, then know there are like-minded people who will make this journey with you.

As a network operating classical schools since 2017, headmasters will benefit from an experienced Ascent Classical home office team, with leaders and staff ready to support in the areas of finance, human resources, recruiting, marketing, curriculum, and development, so headmasters can focus on academic and cultural leadership of their schools.
