Water Quality Technician - job post Tesuque Pueblo
Pueblo of Tesuque Department of Environmental & Natural Resources
The Water Quality Technician is responsible for conducting water sampling under the Pueblo of TesuqueDepartment of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). The Water Quality Technician will assist the Water Quality Specialist and will be required to perform other duties with multiple on-going projects relating to the environment outside of the water resources group. The incumbent will attend all necessary training events by EPA and/or other institutions.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Carry out daily technical support within the water quality program.
Responsible for seasonal sample collection following the protocols identified in the Quality Assurance Project Plan(s) (QAPP’s) for the on-going water monitoring program at the Pueblo of Tesuque.
Coordinates and assists Water Quality Specialist in scheduling of sampling events.
Will assist with writing grant applications including technical workplans.
Responsible for equipment maintenance and calibration and if needed, submitting water samples to contract laboratories for analysis.
Must be familiar with and is accountable for compliance with federal regulations and statutes such as the Clean Water Act (CWA) and Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) as they apply on Tribal lands.
Will assist in providing educational outreach and providing pertinent information on environmental issues concerning the community.
The Water Quality Technician will assist the PTED Technical Staff with appropriate projects and attend all necessary training events by EPA and/or other institutions.
Experience with federal grant requirements and field survey is desired.
Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Environmental Technician
Pueblo of Tesuque Department of Environment & Natural Resources
Incumbent in this position will be responsible for the day-to-day activities administered under the Pueblo of TesuqueDepartment of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in the development of a tribal air quality program. The Incumbent will assist in capacity building to assess, identify air quality sources and concerns in the community, understand how to maintain air quality by managing emissions and enforcing compliance of applicable laws, along with data entry and technical reporting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Assist in the building of tribal capacity for air quality management

· Assists with daily technical support within the DENR.

· Assists in development of the Quality Assurance Project Plan(s) (QAPP’s) for air monitoring at the Pueblo of Tesuque.

· Assist with data entry and data verification.

· Must have strong written and oral communication skills as they will be required to document activities, such as technical reporting and grant writing.

· Must also have strong organizational skills and be able to manage several tasks and work in an efficient and effective manner as it pertains to required grant deliverables.

· Due to the dynamic nature of the environmental field, technician must express an interest in obtaining additional training as it pertains to the activities of the department. Training may include but is not limited to field data collection techniques, information technologies, equipment training, and personal enhancement.

· To help foster an educational outreach program, providing pertinent information on environmental issues concerning the community.

· Individual will be required to work in a team environment out on the field and be able to work independently on projects that necessitate it.

· Responsible for other duties as assigned.

Forestry Technician
Pueblo of Tesuque Department of Environment & Natural Resources
Incumbent in this position is responsible to work alongside foresters and other natural resource specialists protecting and maintaining forests, lakes, mountains, and grasslands. Conducts field operations for fuels reduction projects, prescribed fire, wild land fire suppression, fire education, and associated activities.

TYPICAL functions:

Under the supervision of the Director, Environment and Natural Resources.
Participate in forest protection activities, including fire control, coordination of fire detection and public education programs.
Thin and space trees and control weeds and undergrowth, according to provided resource management prescriptions, using manual tools and chemicals to conduct field activities to achieve project objectives, i.e. fell trees, buck, pile, remove biomass, or plant tree seedlings.
Attend training for forestry and wild land firefighting and obtain certifications for increasing qualifications.
Ensure safety and personal protective equipment (PPE) are properly used.
Will be responsible for tools, equipment, and vehicles in use.
Maintain professional hygiene and appearance.
Attend and satisfactorily complete required training as directed by the Director and/or the Human Resources Department.
Other duties as assigned.
