CCM Facility Manager

Under the direction of the Associate Director of Facility and Husbandry Operations of the BWH Center for Comparative Medicine (CCM) the Facility Manager’s primary responsibility is the management of CCM Research Animal Specialist (RAS) levels 1-3 and Lead Tech/Trainer. Position responsibilities include the management and oversight of animal husbandry care and sanitation operations conducted within the CCM Animal Facilities. The Manager will ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, AAALAC accreditation standards, and support research needs of the investigative research staff.
Position requirements include personnel management responsibilities and collaboration with internal hospital departments, outside equipment venders, and service contractors. The CCM Facility Manager must understand and champion teamwork, staff empowerment, standardization of processes and continuous improvement initiatives while collaborating with other CCM managers and professional staff in the standardization and continuous improvement of department initiatives.

Animal Care Specialist

The Center of Comparative Medicine (CCM) is looking for Research Animal Specialists/Technicians to provide proper care of laboratory animals and cagewash support within the Center of Comparative Medicine (CCM) Animal Facilities. Responsibilities include: performing equipment sanitation, maintaining husbandry equipment records, and supporting the facility teams in daily work, as needed. All CCM coworkers are required to work in a team environment following Lean Management principles and to participate in continuous improvement projects. This position involves daily exposure to laboratory animals (mice & rats), their waste products, and possibly chemical agents, radioactive isotopes and ABSL2 hazards. Rotating weekend and holiday work hours are required.
