Why Our Role?
We are looking for a UI Designer to join the UX & Design team and be responsible for designing and creating web and interaction designs which make it easy for our customers to use and save money.
As a UI Designer, you'll join a team of 15 UX & UI, designers, user researchers, writers and prototypers. Outside of the UX team, you’ll work within cross functional agile teams comprising of designers, developers, product managers, analysts and more.
The UI team are also responsible for the design & maintenance of our internal design system (GXP) and component library. The role involves collaborating with people from across the business to ensure that customer, commercial, brand, compliance, legal and product needs are satisfied.
You should be passionate about user interface, visual & interaction design. Whilst this is a digital design role, having a solid understanding of basic graphic design principles will be beneficial.
What will you be doing?
Key Responsibilities:
Developing high quality UI designs for the website by working on wireframes & user flows developed by the internal UX team, and external agencies
Collaborate with colleagues in UX, product, compliance, commercial, marketing and technology to create compelling customer experiences
Work with researchers, designers, analysts and product managers to continuously improve and test new designs on our products
Directly working with the product engineering team to ensure designs can be applied to new and existing systems
Confidence presenting ideas and influencing stakeholders while protecting the integrity of the brand and design
Be a guardian of the Global Experience Principles (GXP) to ensure consistent usage and approach across all channels
Being responsible for and ensuring the quality of customer experience design output at moneysupermarket.com
Develop a deep understanding of MoneySuperMarkets core channels and user journeys. Learn key user pain points and be an advocate for the customer
What do you need to excel in this role?
Essential:
Excellent practical design skills including layout, colour, typography & responsive design demonstrated through strong design portfolio
Drawing/sketching skills for ‘scamping’ campaign ideas and mockups
Understanding & experience of working with pattern/component libraries contributing to a consistent design language
A strong attention to detail
Experience of using Sketch for creating visual designs
Experience of using Adobe Creative suite
Excellent people skills and confidence to build positive relationships with colleagues in the business
Understanding of user centered design and how it can help with presenting information to customers
The capacity to defend your work whilst convincing others of its benefits
Ability to interpret analytics and feedback to define and refine designs
You should be organised, with the ability to independently run projects and your own workload
Show initiative and a positive can do attitude
Humility - you should be humble and accept that you don’t have all the answers
Nice to have:
Working knowledge of Invision, Marvel or similar for the creation of clickable prototypes
Knowledge of animation & motion specifically when designing for interaction
Experience of using Zeplin & other tools for providing design documentation
Previous experience of working in financial services
Basic understanding of all personal finance consumer issues and products: savings, credit cards, insurance, mortgages, investments, pensions, financial services and loans
A degree in a related discipline, design or significant industry experience
Knowledge of Lean UX, Lean startup, Design Thinking, Kanban and dual track agile discovery & development processes
Persuasive speaking, presentation and negotiation skills
Awareness & familiarity with persuasion, emotion & trust psychology and cognitive biases
