Staff physician, Clinical Pharmacology & Toxicology
The Hospital for Sick Children
Effective January 1, 2024, the Department of Paediatrics, Temerity Faculty of Medicine at the University of Toronto and the Division of Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology, at The Hospital for Sick Children, an academic health science centre dedicated exclusively to children, affiliated with the University of Toronto, is recruiting a full-time permanent staff physician. It is possible for this position to include a dual appointment in a second Division, either Paediatric Hospital Medicine or an alternative pediatric sub-specialty Division (cardiology, respirology, etc), based on the training and interest of the candidate.

The successful candidate’s role will involve provision of clinical care for children in both the Division of Clinical Pharmacology and Toxicology (majority), as well as their secondary Division based on their specialty training. In Clinical Pharmacology, the candidate will provide faculty oversight of an inpatient consult service and also an ambulatory drug adverse reaction and toxicology clinic. In Paediatric Hospital Medicine, the candidate will rotate between multiple service roles at the Hospital for Sick Children. In alternative sub-specialty Divisions, the clinical work will be dictated by a joint discussion between the candidate and the two Division heads. The successful candidate will also have time to pursue academic interests which can focus on any of the following: health professions education, quality improvement or clinical / translational research.

All candidates must be able to function proficiently in English, hold an MD, MBBS or equivalent thereto and be certified or eligible for certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or have comparable qualifications. Candidates must hold or be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario. This position will remain open until filled.

The American College of Medical Toxicology’s (ACMT) Toxicology Investigators Consortium (ToxIC) Program seeks a PhD-Level Research Associate with a background in epidemiology, public health, pharmacology, and/or biostatistics. The Research Associate will provide assistance and support to the Research Director of ToxIC, a 40-site national multicenter poisoning surveillance and research program with current funding from NIH, FDA, and CDC. This person will directly oversee the statistical analyses for ACMT’s FDA-funded Drug Overdose Toxico-Surveillance (DOTS) Reporting Program. This individual will also be responsible for assisting with grant and/or business development for ToxIC, manuscript writing, statistical support, and design/implementation of epidemiological studies. This individual will have the opportunity to be part of a fast-paced, exciting work environment with multiple opportunities to publish and present scientific findings. This position is contingent upon renewal and continuation of grant funding.
