The TISS Project Director is a key personnel in the administration of Trauma Informed Services in Schools (TISS) Grant.

OSRLE, as part of the Nevada Department of Education (NDE), is seeking to hire a full-time Program Officer with experience, knowledge and/or skills with grant management, knowledge of children’s mental health services and/or positive youth development, presentation and training skills, and excellent verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Specific responsibilities include assessing, monitoring, and reviewing all grant activities, including ensuring the timely submission of all performance reports; ensuring that all grant activities are in compliance with appropriate federal requirements and regulations; developing a coordinated and integrated plan and ensuring successful implementation and sustainability; bringing teams together through meetings, emails, and collaborative planning; creating protocols and timelines for project implementation aimed to create systems change; working with project school districts and their communities to ensure TISS components will be addressed; building awareness, connection and infrastructure across local and state entities that increase capacity to provide access to school mental health support; reviewing, monitoring, and supporting recipient and sub-recipient compliance to federal, state and local laws and regulation; providing technical assistance to service providers regarding program operations; participating in all required grantee meetings on behalf of the State of Nevada; and compiling data and preparing reports.

OSRLE, as part of the Nevada Department of Education (NDE), is seeking to hire a part-time contractor/consultant to work the three participating Project AWARE Districts, Carson, Washoe, and the Charter Authority to deepen and expand the work in suicide prevention and postvention.

This person will follow-up on the preliminary AWARE trainings to support three implementation and sustainability concepts: 1) that each school has a suicide prevention training program in place and scheduled for subsequent years for both the students and the staff; 2) that each school embeds the Office of Suicide Prevention’s Postvention Plan into their Emergency Operations Plan (EOPs); and, 3) that each school will further train their student instructional support specialists personnel (SISP) on crisis intervention inclusive of stabilization processes and policies.

This contractor/consultant will also work collaboratively with the Office of Suicide Prevention to ensure school-level policies align with current state laws.

OSRLE, as part of the Nevada Department of Education (NDE), is seeking to hire a full-time contractor/consultant to assist with transitioning the current Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS) into a more Integrated System Framework (ISF) to better support school-based mental health.

In this framework, the individuals will work with community and grant stakeholders to build traction for the following: 1) a partnership with the University of Nevada, School of Medicine and Social Work to implement a system of supervision for interns in the 3 pilot LEAs; 2) develop a plan with state partners to increase Nevada’s workforce capacity (amongst school staff and community partners); 3) deliver research-based strategies, policies, and practice models relevant to the education context, by using collaborative decision-making processes guided by local data, as well as research evidence.

This work will not only assist the current AWARE districts, but will create systems that will assist Nevada in supporting school-based mental health in the future.
