Essential Functions of Position: Ability to efficiency and accurately complete a variety of standardized and non-standardized assessments for the pediatric population Timely and efficient documentation with desire to provide quality, evidence-based clinical assessments Passion for answering family questions about diagnosis and prognosis of their child, and be comfortable with coordinating with scheduling staff to help triage child’s needs Must be comfortable and well-spoken with talking with parents and providers including coordinating phone calls, answering questions, and providing clinical expertise. 2+ years of pediatric experience desired but willing to mentor the right fit. Must have experience administering and scoring assessments including PDMS, BOT II, VMI, DTVP, PEDI, and Sensory Profile. Efficiently document clean, concise, and measurable goals for children on caseload Coordinate with COTAs when children require discharge, and complete timely and comprehensive discharge summaries. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to explain complex information to a variety of audiences including parents, staff, and educators.
Creating Pathways Pediatric Therapy Job Summary The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) works under the supervision of the Occupational Therapists and assists them with responsibilities such as colle... cting background information, providing input during the pediatric occupational therapy evaluation, treatment for children with neuromuscular, developmental, sensory-motor, behavioral and/or emotional limitations.
Essential Functions
Verifies patient information and complete chart data prior to each patient visit for medical history, test results, and other pertinent information.
Helps pediatric patients improve their quality of life by helping them according to the treatment plan developed by the Occupational Therapist.
Provides timely written documentation per facility and department requirements.
Prepares and submits patient charges accurately to provide appropriate billing information
Maintain a safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing, following, and enforcing standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
Keeps supplies ready for use by inventorying and maintaining stock, troubleshoot equipment breakdowns, perform preventative maintenance, and ask for assistance when needed.
Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities, reading professional publications, and participation in professional organizations.
Reports any changes in patient status or needs to supervising therapist on a timely basis
