Small regeneratiive farm internship and livestock manager
Henbant Permaculture
Henbant Permaculture is looking for its 2022 core team…

Henbant is a beautiful, small, permaculture inspired and holistically managed farm between the mountains and the sea in North West Wales.

We are on a mission to prove that you can buy a small farm on a mortgage, pay for it through producing nutrient dense foods, build soil, build biodiversity, build social capitol and at the same time enjoy it. If we can prove this works then we can do our bit at making the world a slightly better place. Proving this isn’t easy however, if we are to out compete the conventional system we need to be organised and hard working.

This year we are looking for a team of people to join us on this mission: livestock (Holistically managed cattle, woodland pigs, pastured laying hens and a few house cows); No-dig CSA veg box scheme; our agroforestry systems, woodland and tree propagation. We are also in need of help in building and establishing our regenerative food café and teaching space as well as a wooden yurt and a sauna. We also have low impact buildings, yurts and a campsite for guests. Everybody on farm gets involved in every enterprise but its best if you want to specialise.
Many of our enterprises are designed to create a teaching and learning opportunity rather than be very profitable. Where enterpirses can afford somebody we do pay. We have already filled our paid market gardener role for the season, it is possible if you are capable of running our animal enterprises for the season and taking some of the general farm management responsibilities that we could pay a very basic rate for that. We may also be able to pay a basic rate for a farm chef. Our other positions are really there as learning spaces and for these, we can offer a fun, outdoors, healthy way of living; wholesome mainly home produced and organic food, accommodation and lots of experience, conversation and training on the cutting edge of regenerative and permaculture farming and living.

Researcher- Jumping Faces Project
Ecological Land Cooperative
Jumping Fences - understanding and addressing the barriers to access to land for agroecological farming for Black people and people of colour (BPOC) in Britain.

The Jumping Fences project is a collaboration between Land In Our Names, Land Workers’ Alliance and Ecological Land Cooperative that addresses issues of land and food justice as they relate to BPOC in Britain.

It aims to carry out research into the experiences of BPOC who have been able to set up growing businesses and projects, as well as those who would like to pursue this life, to find out what motivated them to do this, what their challenges were, how they overcame them, and what more can be done to enable BPOC new entrants to farming to gain access to land in peri-urban and rural spaces.

The project aims to use the research findings to educate by opening up a conversation with the agroecological farming sector about the barriers that BPOC face when trying to access opportunities to grow food in Britain so that they can build their organisations’ capacity to ensure that they are serving all of the diverse communities of Britain.

Finally the project partners will work together to build the capacity of Land In Our Names (LION) to develop as a community land trust with the ability to acquire and manage land for BPOC new entrants to agroecological farming.

The Jumping Fences Researcher will be responsible for all aspects of delivering Phase 1: the research and Phase 2: dissemination of the findings for the Jumping Fences project, reporting to the ELC Coordinator on a day to day basis and supported by the collaborative of LION, LWA and ELC.
